    1984 Mondial Cab. US version.

I need some help troubleshooting a new problem in my CIS after my recent replacement of the fuel injectors. Now the car stalls during idle at random when it gets hot.

The car runs great with the new injectors. But at random, at stop lights or even idling for a while, the rpms drop from 1000 to 800, 600 then stalls. It does not do it all the time. Or, during idling, it drops to 800, 600, then back up to 1000 and it is fine for a while.

Depressing the brakes does not cause it. So the brake booster and associated vacum lines must be fine.

To start the car, sometimes it requires the gas pedal depressed 1/2 way. This would indicate a problem with the WUR or the AAV. When cold, the engine revs at 1100 rpm, not the 2000 or 3000 rpm other posters stated. (I would like to avoid the 3000 rpm AAV). But when hot, the WUR and AAV would be off.

I read the Bosch Gasoline Fuel-Injection System K-Jetronic. It was great describing the system, but it offers no troubleshooting techniques. I have read other posters learning to live with this problem, accelerating when the engine is idle.

It can't be the new brass injectors, as they open at 3.5 bar, same as the old stainless steel ones.

Can this be an air leak somewhere? The only part I disassembled was the throttle body to replace the two injectors underneath it. There are only two vacum hoses under the throttle body, a thick one and a thin one, no chance of connecting them backwards. I did not replace the throttle body gasket, as it looked ok and I did not apply a thin coat of RTV to it. I did not remove the air plenum.

I did not touch the idle adjustment screw, besides, it idles at 1000 rpm for a while just fine.

    Thanks in advance for tips.

when the idle changes drastically like that, it's either the cold air valve or a vacuum leak somewhere.

I was surprised to find that the vacuum spec for the 3.0 engine is 10 inches of Hg, but anyway, check that first to see if there is a vacuum leak somewhere.

My Ford 390 V8 has a vacuum of 18" and so I was quite surprised to read in the manual that the Ferrari idles with a vacuum of 10".....check that first.

I drove the car to work today in stop and go.

The idle was hoovering at around 600 rpm and kept stalling while sitting in traffic. I increased the idle with the screw on the throttle body as it was annoying.

What is the correct procedure to adjust the idle speed? I couldn't find it on the Bosch documents. I made sure that I could hear the "click" on the switch in the throttle body when the throttle was let go back to idle.
