    Dear Comrades,

    I haven't weighed my doors but it is my understanding that they weigh but a mere kilogram each, or put another way, two kilograms for the pair. Surely they weigh more than this?

    I agree with you that this is information to be suspicious about. According to my knowledge and information, the doors with sliding plexiglass windows have a weight of about 3 kg a piece, and the more common with ordinary wind-up glass windows should presumably be about 1 kg more, due to the weight of the glass and some more parts for the wind-up mechanism, i.e about 4 kg a piece. This is my best guess, but still - very, very light!

    They would weigh substantially more than has been stated. The super flimsy carbon fibre lightweight doors on my race 360 N-GT weigh more than that and they are tissue paper stuff. The race doors don't even have proper window frames like the F40.

    Thank you. And as you say, even at 3-4kg a piece the overal weight is not inordinate. I am wondering whether the doors on the US version of the F-40 are heavier?

    Mate, they are much heavier than that. If my race car was home at the moment I would wip a door off and weigh it just for interests sakes. Anyone here have an F40 in bits at the moment?

    I'm led to believe that the doors are very light but you may be well be correct. However, do you have an F-40 on the road in Australia then? And if so, how did you assuage the difficulties with the legislation regarding left hand drive cars?

    F40's are pretty numerous down under, despite the fact that they can't be legally driven on our roads. You see them getting about on dealer plates or temporary permits; but that is pushing the limits of the law and isn't wise.
    The laws vary from state to state; but a LHD vehicle generally has to be 30yrs old before it can be registered.

    Here in England, I find no difficulty whatsoever with the left hand drive configuration - I almost prefer it to RHD. I originally thought that it may present problems but it doesn't at all.

    Dear Graham,

    I have once heard that the US versions have support bars in the doors, to ensure that side impacts have he smallest possible chance of hurting driver and passenger, should they be hit from the side. Regrettably, it is just something I have been told and can not verify. However, I find the accelerator pedal the most efficient means of not beeing hit from the side in an F40.. *L*

    I will weigh one of my F40's doors and report. I am sure the doors of the Tipo USA F40 are very sturdy devices :)
