With a nice zinger at the end. http://en.espnf1.com/williams/motorsport/story/193647.html#hMSbfJYiF8kbx1Uu.99 Before McLaren switched to Honda power last year, Ron Dennis said it is impossible for a customer team to win the world championship. Do you agree with that? Well, when he was the works Mercedes team he got beaten by Brawn, didn't he? Maybe it's just difficult for him to win. Just like it's difficult for him to find title sponsors.
haha, fantastic. Mclaren last won a drivers title in 2008 (by the narrowst of margins, a corner!) and their last constructors title a massive 10 years before that! I've got little doubt Ron is an extremely difficult person to deal with and still trying to pass of Mclaren's previous success to get a top dollar sponsorship deal... Now that Mercedes is in the drivers seat however, I do agree with him a little that a team such as Williams is not allowed to win if they are in a position to overtake a Merc car that isn't wounded. At some race(s?) last year Williams was NOT allowed to use a different setting that would enable them to strongly challenge for the win. I do hope that the Williams has a lot of opportunities to do so again this year and tell Mercedes to go **** themselves and snatch wins from them .
Wow, that was not necessary, Pat. But I think that a customer team only can win if the works team screws it up badly. The money Mercedes is spending in their own car is something Williams can only dream about.
That was really uncalled for from Mr. Symonds. I am not the biggest fan of Ron's either, but there is no need to hit the poor man below the belt.
