    Uhhhh.

And that leaves what in this forum, exactly? Fiat spyder owners, a couple of Alfaheads, and 1 guy with a Yugo?

I originally wanted Other Italian to be a place to talk about Italian travel, food, culture, and the cars too.

As a Maserati owner I'm biased, but what's the worst that could happen? If it's not being used, just fold it back into Other Italian. If it is, everybody wins.

If Lambo enthusiasts get their own domain name (www.lamborghinichat.com), I think we should too!

    There is http://www.maseratiforum.net/forum/
But that Forum is just getting started. When I was ordering my Maserati last Fall I found zero info and have always used these sites in making my decisions. Maserati doing well will benefit Ferrari so I think it's in your best interest to keep a Maserati Forum

I think having another Maserati's own forum here is too much. We already have plenty of forums.

Rob, I remember you wanted this for travel/food italian stuff, but I think that stuff and Maseratis and other Italian can all co-exist in teh same forum.

Lets leave it like it is.

It would be wise to have a Maserati sub-forum. No doubt whatsoever.

Scott, it wasn't meant to be personal. It was more a tongue in cheek joke with me/rob/tillman.

Apologize if you took it differently. :)

I agree you have a tough job in the P&R section but seems the car forums run much smoother and do not require nearly the moderation.

They require almost no moderation. THe Other Italian (this one) and Lambo forums are the best and have had no problems.

Thus it was more a tongue in cheek joke with the other guys. :) :)

maser forum cant hurt. most maserati fans are lambo fans, ferrari fans, etc.. so youll have people who come here for maserati, but then rome over into the ferrari forums and lambo forums to help, browse, ask questions, etc.. Id do it, its to simple not too. But if there isnt a big turn out, then close it, or role back into the other italian forum.

Other Italian is primarily Maserati related today. So this change wont make a big difference really. The Fiat, Alfa guys etc will just have to go to the general cars section instead. I havent really seen people discuss Pasta or Wines in the other Italian section.

I just voted no. As stated most of the traffic here in " Other Italian" is Maserati related, which im sure to some is the justification to seperate it.
I just dont think there will be enough traffic leftover for the odd Lancia, Fiat etc questions. Someone will post a question looking for help with no replies.

Folks, if you're looking for Maserati information then have another look at http://www.maseratiforum.net/ as more and more are getting involved; I'm one of them but also look here too...

That forum deals almost exclusively with newer (Ferrari era) Maseratis. A search for "Merak" turned up no posts. A search for "Biturbo" got a few, but I looked at a couple of them and they basically told the posters to go to the Yahoo! group for questions about older cars.

I agree. It would be nice to have an active forum that is set up to address both the Heritage and Current model interests in appropriate sections.

In past experience with other car clubs, though, weaning the Yahoo Listserv users over to a forum is very, very difficult.

Go for it! I think there is enough interests in the general about Maserati but very limited online forums on them.

I for one, would very much like to share how the buying experience on a QP surprised me.

With Maserati's new and improved full product range and overall higher visibility from racing, the number of owners and enthusiasts will only increase.
Build the forum and it's image now and watch it grow as the marque grows.

Unlike other Italian cars what Maserati does will in many ways affect Ferrari, Just look at what Maserati plans for future vehicles, like the rumored 2006 Spyders and Coups that will be bumped to 5 Liter and 470HP, What do you think Ferrari will do with next Generation 360 to stay ahead of it's little brother Maserati? Healthy Maserati sales could also bring in cash for R&D for future Ferrari models.

Yes, but... the Alfa Romeo community supports multiple Yahoo! lists (a general list and a number of model- or series-specific lists) as well as the AlfaBB.com forum board, and my experience has been that the two complement each other. Some people prefer one mode of interaction; some prefer the other. And of course there is lots of crossover. In any event, both are thriving.

The Yahoo! Maserati group is great, but one big downside to the listserv format is the inability to post a picture with your message, to illustrate what you are talking about. Pics and files can be uploaded to the Yahoo! Groups page, but it's cumbersome when you have a "What does this do?" or "Does this look right?" question, or even "Hey, here's a picture of my car!" Forums are vastly superior in that regard.

The Maserati community is of course a lot smaller than the Alfa Romeo community, but hopefully there would be enough activity to keep a single forum here active.

    Go for it.

Maserati captured my attention with the Quattroporte, and when I saw a Coupe in-the-flesh the other day, It caused me to start lurking in the "other italian" forum. I think it makes just as much sense to start a Maserati section as it does to have a lambo section.

well, maseratichat.com is already taken. heh. :)

why not just rename other italian to maserati, it 95% is already anyhoo. other italian cars (like my poor little X1/9) can deal with the cars/bikes section.
