Old news, I believe Tarek stated that it was fake.

Autoblog has quite a lot of bs and speculation.

But if its from the middle east where they have ridiculous amounts of money and close to no sense of what looks good on beautiful cars... then I usually don't question it... obviously I was wrong in this case.

I wouldn't be surprised if any of the Ferraris that reside in London are actually registered as taxis.
Currently, normal privately owned cars are subject to an £8 (per day) congestion charge if they wish to enter many parts of London.
But, if you register your car as a taxi the cost is then ony £27 per year!!
Known cars that are currently listed as taxis in London include:

    1 x Aston Martin DB7
    31 x Bentley (all models)
    1 x BMW M5
    18 x BMW X5
    1 x Cadillac Escalade
    1 x Jaguar XK
    52 x Range Rover
    2 x Maserati Quattroporte
    3 x Maybach 62
    8 x Rolls Royce Phantom

I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but if you can afford a Phantom, you can afford the congestion charge. No?

Times are tough. It doesn't surprise me that people are trying to make some extra money from their cars. There was an Bentley Taxi in Aspen for many years.

The wealthiest people i know are usually the most careful with money in many ways so i suppose this is not a surprise.

Exactly - and why would you pay it if you didn't have to? :)

they've been trying to propose a similar system in melbourne.

I honestly can't see the purpose other than pure revenue raising. instead of putting proper throughts into improve public transport and infrustructure, government's mentality seems to be slap a fee and things will be fine.

    I don't care if it's fake.

I think it's a splendid idea. For a little extra $$ you could fill the tank up and have the driver do a little something special. ;)

offcourse, but would you rather pay 2920 a year in stupid congestion charge or 27£ a year?

In addition to that list, apperently several lamborghini's are also registered as a taxi.

I just want to thank all the people who gave this thread some legitimate interest (fake or not)... I thought it was interesting and I'm glad that at least some of you do to.
