The Carrera GT is still a faster car. As much as i love the Enzo, the Carrera GT should be named fastest car. You can shift the Enzo from first to second in a tap of the paddles where as the Carrera GT involves more movement and more strength. 0.8 seconds is nothing a Carrera GT with paddle shifting could not handle.Enzo is faster... but the Carrera GT should be faster. Anyways... does anyone know where i can download this video?

The Carrera GT is clearly a match for the NNO... We're splitting hairs with fractions of a second... i'd like to see a track version of the CGT and a track version of the NNO (MC12?) go at it in a race, like LeMans... While fun to watch, Top Gear always seems to have a favorite in mind...

I was surprised to see the Enzo beet the CGT-time. It wasn't even a real tidy lap from the Stig. The Enzo looks awesome at speed, doesn't it?

    And let the fanboys commeth!

"Oh no that's not fair, the CGT should have won, cause it's faster."

Dur.. that's why it was slower?

Makes no sense. Fanboys, we've been saying for a while that the Enzo is faster in CAPABLE and reliable hands. Such as the SAME driver in each vehicle. Driver skill has a huge amount of effect on laptimes, it can vary by as much as a second depending on the gap in driver's skill.

This is the STIG vs the STIG.

Now people are gonna whine, "but what about track conditions and humidity and if Burger King was open till 10 or 11 that day?" Or about the F1 paddle shifters.

First, people complain about the F1 shifters, saying they don't give you enough "feel" of the car and what not, and how they're not good. But then they're like, "OH ONLY IF THE CGT HAD F1 SHIFTERS, IT'D BE LIKE, SO CGT OWNAGE."

OH STFU, we've had to hear all this hooting about how the CGT pwns the Enzo. Well, this time. FERRARI HAS IT!

Frankly I could care LESS if the CGT is faster around the Nurburgring. It's not a comparable track to ANYTHING else around the world. So what if the CGT can go around a track that it was tested at a lot? I'll give the CGT the Nurburgring! But I'd have to say that the TG track would be more comparable to the variety of racing circuits that F1 uses.

Saying the Porsche CGT is good cause of the Nurburgring's dominating time is like saying Ferrari should automatically be claimed the #1 in F1 if they win their race at Monza. It's only expected that they win a home circuit!

Now we just need some comparable data of same driver vs driver in each car again.

Lead me to some data that compares same driver skill in the two different cars as Top Gear has done. Otherwise, don't waste my time.

    ViVa La Enzo!

    As Michael Schumacher said...

" I believe that with the Enzo Ferrari, we have accomplished our goals. "

Im sorry but please make sense next time. The F1 paddle shift is part of the Enzo. The Enzo was faster around that track. Full stop.

Guys, i think what Armen's trying to say is that if the NNO were a straight shift or if the CGT had an F1 style gearbox, the CGT would be quicker... Because the NNO has an F1 gearbox, it's naturally going to shift quicker than the straight shift CGT... If both cars had the same style gearbox, the numbers might be different...

lol, that was fantastic! Thanks for the link.

I definitely agree with Jeremy. I think he hit the nail right on the head: the Enzo is the pinnacle of performance, but the F40 will forever appease the driver's heart.

But isn't that a bit like saying, "If the Carrera GT had a shot of nitrous, it would be faster"

The car is what it is. And besides, it's not like the Carrera GT is giving up on-track performance because it is a paragon of everyday usability.

I'll take 0.8 seconds a lap anytime, anyday. I was wrong about the Enzo, my mistake. Hats off to Ferrari, again...

I think instead of caring about what car laps quicker, just appreciate both for what they are......

I'm not much of a huge Porsche enthusiast the way I am for Ferrari/Lamborghini, but the Carrera GT I find to be a very highly desirable car..

Main reasons being the standard transmission, how fast the engine revs, and how the car is difficult to drive...even Walter Rohrl said it was tough for him to totally control, and we all know he made his name driving those Group B Audi Quattros...

    I suggest owning both.

I see no aspect of the CGT that is or should be faster. The Enzo outguns it in HP and TQ, and it weighs less. That the CGT is as close as it is gives testament to Porsche's superb engineering and extensive race experience.

Moreover, on this course, paddles would make little to no difference. Recall the identical times of the paddled Challenge Stradale and the manual 911 GT3.

Superb video BTW. Many thanks to Sleepy-Fish.
