Guys I would like to find some info on how Ferrari actuate the valves, I was thinking they may have followed Porsche's/BMW's route using INA's 3CF radiused hydraulic tappets. Both Porsche and BMW use a 28 mm locked position (non rotating) round tappet a specially designed camshaft that is similar to a roller cam in a pushrod engine. The advantage is that the cam can open and close much quicker. As such you can have smaller duration cam that delivers the same power as a slightly larger one, this will normally give greater efficiency and emissions. It of course is not the only way to go, finger followers are of course the best system for out and out performance. The INA lifter is very light at around 30 grams. The lift on the intake in the new GT3 engine is 12.7 mm or 0.500". Normally the bigger the lift the bigger the tappet radius. I don't know what the max lift of this system is. If the Enzo or the FFX uses this system they may well have more lift.

I haven't seen those, I'll have to google it tomorrow when I have more time.

.500" is an awful lot of lift for a 4V engine. I'm getting new cams ground for the TR heads I have and am only thinking .420 to maybe .450 becasue even with the 4mm oversive valve I'm fitting it just doesn't help to open them any more as there is very little flow gain up there. The buckets will be 35mm and more like 40 grams....30 is very light.

When have finger followers become the best for out and out performance? ... actually what is a finger follower?, surely we are not talking about a rocker?
