I was surfing their website and... 2003 Ferrari Enzo 1250 134956/942A Rosso Corsa/Black leather Coming Soon !!
he has the right to do whatever he wants, and I have never driven a Veyron but... I dont think I could ever make a trade like that
I'm sorry but I have never been a fan of the Veyron from the get go, to the final product. I'm glad it will no longer be the bug eye's staring me down every time I walk by the showroom. I heard this rumor a while back. Pretty surprised it took so long actually. Peter Hatch
I drove by tonight and sure enough, there was a little white square that read SOLD. some luck bastard is smiling in his sleep tonight.
I don't really mind seeing that little sold sign. That only means there will be three much more beautiful cars on their way. Peter Hatch
In all seriousness I hate the entire concept of the thing. It supposedly costs what, five million a piece? They can only sell it for 1.2 million? No surprise to me. If you have seen it in person then I think you could probably agree it looks like a VW Bug on steroids. The hard stuff at that. It weighs two tons with one thousand horsepower, and gets a "meager" 2.8 on the 0-60. The S7 TT weighs how much less, has how much less more power, and does the same 0-60 for about 600K. I don't understand why it is appealing. How can they brag about making 3000 horsepower and burning off 2000 before it even gets to the tranny. It's a W16 with 4 turbos and it just has nothing particularly amazing about it. There is truly nothing amazing. How many stupid kids put turbos on their cars making it 1000 horsepower? Then Bugatti does the same, but blends two V8's in the mix. How do they get away with it, when you and me alike would think the child who made a quad turbo 1000 horse car that weighs two tons to be an idiot. But Bugatti is simply genius for doing the same? It makes no sense to me. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. Peter Hatch If your question was aimed at why I think it's taken longer than expected for the Enzo to come is because I heard the rumor nearly a year ago. In which case, I'm sorry for the Veyron rant.
I know somebody who owns one here. It comes down to driveability and stability. The aerodynamics is truly amazing for that car. Meager 2.8 0-60? It's traction limited even with AWD. Granted I have never ridden in a S7 but the built quality is not up to par as compared to the Bugatti.. and oh BTW, it's still a Saleen not a Bugatti. Would you rather have a hopped up Honda Civic that does in 4.5sec 0-60 vs a 360 that does 4.5 sec too. The answer is clear.
The comparison between a Saleen S7 vs a Bugatti Veyron and that of a Civic vs a 360 is rediculous as I'm sure you well know. I'm sorry if I have offended you personally by this statement, but it makes no sense to me why these numbers are so impressive for what the drivetrain could possibly attain. If what I have said is somehow ignorant I would much rather hear an explanation than another form of retaliation. I'm pretty sure I met you with your CS at Santana Row. I hope that this is simply a routine conversation rather than some sort of argument. Peter Hatch
Wow. I went and looked at the Veyron when it was there. Pretty amazing car, though not what I would get. Out of curiosity how well does the car handle? I here all the hype about its power but nothing about the handling. Anyone have any stats? or better yet personal experience.
From what I have heard it was amazing especially for it's weight. Still I do not believe the car to be as amazing and God-like as it seems to be known as. Sorry guys. Peter Hatch
not offended at all. It just IMO that your dislike for the Veyron is poorly reasoned especially for a car you have never sat in or experienced. It's not all about straight line speed. Rather the feel. The analogy is logical between the civic and a 360. Look at it this way... My 500hp E60 M5 was just as fast as my stradale in a straight line. Would I have rather chosen to drive the M5 on the weekends instead of the CS.. the answer is hell no. Is the CS worth the price of admission even though is not faster than the M5? absolutely.
If that could somehow be interpretted as an offer I'm up for it. Until then though I have to stand next to what I have said previously. I'm sure it is a great car, and if it is made for 5 million it better be a damn good car at that. Obviously I have had no seat time in any exotic, even in a car at idle. Let alone a Bugatti Veyron at speed, but I do have limited knowledge of physics. Inertia applies to everything, and a 1000 horsepower push is, well a 1000 horsepower push. And placing that push on something that weighs 4000 lbs in comparison to the same power pushing something that weighs closer to 3200 lbs give or take can only make the "seat of your pants" feel even stronger, no? Like I said, I'd be more than willing to take a ride in your M5 then your CS and then gladly join your side, but until then I'm standing firm. Peter Hatch edit: sounds like you may have sold your M5 for the CS? Never-the-Less my argument still stands.
1000bhp in 4000lbs is (roughly) equivelent to 500hp in 2000lbs... Imagine an Elise with 500hp. I consider the Veyron mildly appealing on the whole, but from a technical standpoint it certinly is quite amazing. I'd be privliged to own one, but not before I owned many more cars on my 'list'. PS: I like the VW beetle, my mom has one
The Veyron represents the zenith of automobile engineering. It is analogous to the McLaren F1 that came out 14 years ago and was just (barely) beaten as far as records are concerned. The Bugatti is simply a fabulous machine. The numbers are mind-boggling and the performance is other-worldly! There is nothing, I repeat, nothing that comes close to the performance of the Veyron (stock cars). Rear tires that are 265 Run Flats and AWD that grips like a mother is insane. As Josh said, the whole package is what it's about. Who cares about those POS Vipers with 2000 HP and riced out Porsche Turbos with 1000 HP?? They'll never compare to the Veyron on so many levels. The turn signal stock is made of Aluminium-Magnesium alloy that goes for $40k+ for a pair in the Veyron! Now THAT is freakin ridiculous.
Emissions is a big thing of the future and I don't know if it's California legal but it's still a LEV, ranking 2 out of 10 and legal as far as Tier II standards go in the US. That's quite impressive for a W16 race engine that puts out nearly 1000hp. Baasha is right about the tires too. Specifically designed for the Veyron, they have to be able to handle f1 like acceloration while withstanding more than 4xs the weight of an f1 car. Granted, the tires won't last more than 15 minutes at top speed, haha but neither will the gas. Personally, I like the look of the Veyron because it doesn't scream "Le Mans homologation car" but it can beat them out so efforlessly and gracefully. Plus, the car gets the award for worst gas mileage for a production car. Who can argue with that?
here is one reason to buy a veyron: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pOKqMrOYd0 ^^top gear James May drives veyron to 253mph. Even if you would could never do it, still have bragging rights
Material differences between this motor and a race-car motor. Until you had to turn. It may be more comfortable, but grace encompasses qualities of restraint (sorely lacking) and it does not exactly bode well as a responsive/involving car. Like a good friend put it, "it's about as involving to drive as a biz jet" Which begs the question - what is it? It's not a GT (comfortable but doesn't have the practicality of a GT), it's not a luxobarge (2 seater and minimal space per above), it's not a racecar, it's not an involving driver's car - what is it? --Dan
