Would I keep to the limit all the time? Probably not. But You'd never catch me doing 265 in an 80 zone. especially with a bend in the road coming up.
I may want some pretty fast cars, but I'm no moron. I know well what speed can do. I don't **** around with **** like that.

i did 330kmh on a road that had an unrestricted speed limit and was straight for miles with no traffic and no rain during the day with a car that was checked over completely , tyre pressures etc checked out before attempting that speed.

Do look at the pictures..........and learn. These Ferrari of our are the love of our life but they could very well kill us, if we don't treat them right. I remind myself of that everyday...

I agree, the graphic pictures posted should legitimately remind us all to take care enjoying our sports cars.

 

I also believe that the car hit a tree or something else substantial. The entire middle section of the car from the dash to the rear firewall is missing. In one of the photos you can see a door on the side of the road next to a roadsign about where the debris field starts. Looks like he lost it and hit a tree or large pole with the driver's side about where the front wheel is.

Anyone else notice something leaning against the trees just behind the police van. In some of the pictures the advertising signs look like they are on some pretty hefty poles. I wonder if he could have hit one of them.

I don't think it was a divided highway though. In the pictures there are road signs with the words facing both directions.

I'm going to find out what other forums these bozos belong to. Then I'm going to go there and post tactless dupes like there was no tomorrow.

 

This appears to be the most logical explanation thus far, the theory of 2 lanes going the opposite way on the other side of the shrubs, but in the middle of the road there is an unbroken white line. would this indicate that traffic goes in both directions and therefore mean there is nothing else on the other side of those shrubs? or am i talking nonsense?

 

Let's be clear. The pictures clearly show a single lane road - one lane in each direction. You can tell that from the different pictures which show the signs at the side of the road facing both ways.

Yes, you are making sense. I forewarded these to my dad (ex CHP), and right away, he asked "where's the rest of the pictures from the other side of the shrub?" Items he pointed out were, there is about 25 yards of wreckage visible in the pictures and if this car was traveling at 100+ there's no way these peices would come to rest in the distance shown in these pictures.

In short, something happened on the other side of the shrub and this car plowed through it, which absorbed the travel energy, hit the inner shoulder kicking up the dirt and grass... and well, what you see in the pics is where it all came to rest. Vegetation cought in the seams of the car is visible. The turquoise blankets are.... remains.

Did this make Italian news somewhere? I searched and came up with nothing.

 

I assumed that the "shrubs" were actually more of a "shrub-covered wall".. but that could be wrong. It would account for the amount of damage to the car (hits wall at angle, shears off front, go from there) but it could be that rolling a few times caused the same damage. Either way, we're still missing part of the picture here.

I'm a mechanical engineer as well since 15 years and I'm highly curious for what you need such pictures. Do you plan a FEM analysis with the help of such graphic material, or what ? Incredible.....

it may seem a little (or awfully ?) tasteless, but when you decide to record ferrari-history, you have no choice. even very sad events like a fatal crash are a piece of history.
all of us know driving sportscars at high speed is dangerous and everyone has to try to minimize his own risk.
its always sad when things like that happen. if it happens to unknown drivers only few people take notice. if it happens to a formula 1 driver, he becomes a legend. this seems strange to me.

Unfortunately 348spider thats how a lot of things are. People die everyday on the streets of America(and Im sure elsewhere as well). Everyone sees the 5 o'clock news and feels sorry and carries on. When Dale Earnhardt died he became a legend.

This is the same with many other tragedies and unfortunate events also. Not very fair but it happens. Only thing you can do is feel sorry and give your condolences out.

It's a strange crash as there's not much info about it. It may have been a suicide. Unlikely, I know, but someone going at that speed, where he was know that if they crash they are not going to make it. It doesn't really matter how strong a safety cell is, it is not going to eliminate the deceleration, which is the force that kills you. F1s? The drivers wear helmets with the HANS elastic device, so are obviously much safer. And there are no poles, trees etc within a circuit.

Anyway, I know a lot of you seem sensitive of each others thoughts, but keep in mind this is just a theory... b*tches

Scud i see your point. But everyone knows speeding is dangerous, even in controlled conditions. You crash at over 200kmh in a car, you have a very small chance of surviving. End of the day it's the drivers choice.
