As well as adding the standard answer REPOST Can I query whether there is a taste lapse in these photos accompanying the story ?
heres an 18 page thread that was started 8 days ago...on the exact same story, exact same pictures. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81352 rookies
Nope, just one. I forgot who the owner was. He since sold it, I think. The pic was from ebay... I think it was the airbag warning sticker that he had modified.
I think it was Penske's, but I'm not sure. Here are some more pics... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ok we have precedence on what to do here as decided by his peers: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81842 Mods, get to work! Really, repost of the week, twice? in the same week? wtf?
Shhh, you've earned the right to a few reposts. Theres a certain class of reposts that just aren't tolerated anymore. Enzo crash for the 4th or 5th is one of those.
That's correct... Bob Rapp's car, S/N 131319, is the one with the "Remember..." sticker on the dash... That car is also, supposedly, the only yellow car in the US with a tan interior...
Alot of people have said "Rest in peace" but really I think "rest in pieces" is more appropriate!!! For every 'holier than thou' poster denouncing others for not thinking about the guys family etc... you really need remember that he wasn't thinking about them when he was driving at 250km/h on that stretch of road!!! And for all of the "at least he died doing what he loves" posters, he may have crashed doing what he loves but looking at the damage to his car I would suggest that he died being ripped to pieces between the wreckage of his car and the road!!! Two points regarding the pics of the brazilian crash, A. they are not that horrific, they are off a couple of dead bodies and B. the only way 2 bodies can be thrown from a vehicle like that is if they aren't wearing their seat belts.... Regarding gun crimes in the US, a huge number of people killed by guns during buglaries etc... are killed by the gun they bought to protect their family/home with! My thoughts on the actual crash/damage to the car. Formula 1 cars are designed around an almost indestructible safety cell that the driver sits in. In a crash the front sections (wheels, wings etc..) and the rear section (engine) are designed to 'snap off' leaving a carbon fibre tub that protects the driver. I would have thought Ferrari would have incorporated this kind on technology into the Enzo, so that in a big crash the rear (heaviest) section of the car snaps off and leaves the cockpit to decelerate on it's own!?!?! It could well be that the car did what it's designed to do but unforunately the safety cell smashed into something else? And all of that in my first post! Ciao
I think that pretty much sums it up except for one thing - had this happened here in America, the deceased's family/estate would be sued by the state/city for the damages he did to state property such as signs, lightpoles, vegetation, fire hydrants, etc., etc....
