    You guys who have heard this, I apologize but I read it in the new Cavallino and think many haven't and it nails so many of us (Ferrari attitude got me a coveted 3-day suspension when some dude from a suburb decided to trash New Orleans). The reporter,aware of the myth that Ferrari wore his sunglasses as a mourning tribute to Dino, asks him where he buys them. Ferrari replies he has them custom made in Modena. Reporter says, 'Commendatore, they help you cut such a striking figure. Ferrari says, That's not why I wear them. I wear them because I don't want people to see what's behind them. You see, I am for the great loves and the great hates.
    Anybody relate to that? The cars reflect the philosophy without doubt.

    That's what art, in order to truly be art, has to do. The artist hopes people love it, but if not, a strong negative reaction is better than indifference. Better to be provocative and not accepted than to never have been noticed at all. It is well known that Enzo had the ego and the confidence to shrug off those that disagreed with him. That is impressive and useful, provided, of course, that one has the competence to back it up.

    I hadn't read that quote before. Thanks for posting it.

    Enzo said that if he wasnt a race driver he would have been an opera singer. I imagine opera singer is a pretty big deal in Italy.

    No doubt Enzo was a very passionate person as well as a great artist

    Thank you. That sheds more light on it. Ferrari is not so much a car as a lightning rod.
