    Bill, question for you.

Are the beams going to be stained a darker colour? I was looking at the hardware used to bolt the beams together and noticed it stood out quite alot and since the theme of your garage is going to be darker earth tones could you stain or tarnish that hardware to a darker colour*?

    Just a thought.:)

*We spell it COLOUR up here;)

Actually, all the exposed beams will be wrapped with 2" oak boards glued together, sanded and stained. That will cover the hardware and rough wood and give us a furniture-finish appearance.

    We'll, we're moving along...

    - Beams getting wrapped in 3/4" oak.
    - Cement base for wall tile completed.
    - Drywall taping and Venetian Plaster completed.
    - Ardex Moisture Control System in progress to minimize moisture problems with the final tile and grout.

Bill, this is looking quite nice thus far. I'm sure in the end it will be the perfect home for an Enzo.

The Carrera GT would look good outside. :)

I'm digging the progress. What's next? Did you ever decide on a floor?

Yes, I suppose it would. Maybe turn it into a flower pot or something like that?

We're putting down hand-made Terra Cotta tiles from the Classic Terra Cotta Company (since 1926). This type of tile is harder than porcelain and is used in many outdoor places in Santa Barbara. We'll use 12 x 12 Mission style pavers (slightly pillowed and undulated).

We'll start laying it out tomorrow. It looks something like this...

    Beams wrapped,
    walls painted,
    tiles down.

Next is grout, ceiling lights, garage doors and tracks. Then not much else until January.

That looks good, and the trim around the windows matches the tiles perfect. It's a perfect spot for your Enzo....it even looks Italian :)

so the garage door tracks are going up in to the ceiling right? - so the doors will be out of the way of view. I am actually designing a house right now, and am planning on doing something similar w/ a party/game room - having garage doors that completely go out of view and retract in to the ceiling - so I am interested in this - as well as the pics to come.

    thanks for sharing.
