Great News! The Enzo Key that I bought from the Ferrari Store (Ferrari Store -> Gifts&Desktop -> Keyrings -> Enzo Ferrari Key) can be cut exactly to fit a 575M. Believe-it-or-not, I ordered the key online on Sunday from Italy and by Friday morning it was sitting on my desk. The cost including shipping was Euro160, which is +/-US$200. The locksmith (http://www.lockworld.com) charged $15 to cut the key. The cost from the Ferrari Store (including shipping from Italy!) is about $100 less than what e-Bay sellers and others want for the key.
I am stunned by that (very cool) news. Here's why: 1. The 575M uses key 170010 which is the same as a 550, 456, F355 and also fits a 348. 2. The Enzo uses 198026 3. The 360 and CS use 181941. 4. We have tried to fit 181941 into a 348 cylinder and it does not fit I am genuinely surprised (but I probably should not be) that Ferrari would use a 1-generation old key for the Enzo. What you're saying is that 198026 = 170010, right? Can you shoot a quick pix of your old 170010 key? Does it look like this one? http://ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?cPath=39&products_id=26 Wow.... ya learn something new all the time! If folks are interested, let me see if I can get a better dealer discount on a bunch of these bad boyz. Best, Daniel
The original key I have for my 575M is a 170010. When I say Enzo Key, I mean the Enzo Key that's offered on the Ferrari Store, which is the same one sold on e-Bay, Beverly Hills Motorsports, Meridian Tuning, et.al. Here's the Ferrari Store's description: "Original ignition key without a transponder and modelled on that of the new Enzo Ferrari GT. The ring is 3.1 cm in diameter and bears the Ferrari badges, both in silver. The key is presented in a special red case with white Ferrari tissue paper and comes with an authentication card." Now, he's what's crazy about this: After making several phone calls to Meridian, Beverly Hills Motorsports AND sending an e-mail to the Ferrari Store, all of them told me the key would not fit a 575M. WRONG! BTW: As a tester, my local locksmith first tried cutting the key blank for a Fiat/Yugo, and it works, too!
The key word here is "modelled," it appears to be a replica (thus no transponder) which is more than good enough. This is a great upgrade from the black plastic key.
Mmm.. Did you select shipping country Italy and enter a USA address? If I select shipping country USA, the Enzo Key doesn't come up in the search. Thx!
Under "Shopping Cart" I selected USA, then went to Gifts&Desktop -> Keyrings -> Enzo Ferrari Key. It's listed as article #289990392. This is the second order I placed with the Ferrari Store, the first one being in early December for a tie. Shipping and delivery were extremely prompt and accurate - better than that from e-Bay sellers + this is coming from 1/2 way around the world!
Chris, you should ask Mike (softwaredrone) where he got his key cut. I think it's somewhere in the southbay. Here's the link with info on where you can get the key cut. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89355 BTW: I got my CS key cut at Lockworld in SF too.
Alex, I think Mike got his key cut at the locksmith in Dublin area. I was looking for a locksmith a bit more south in San Jose area... I guess I might just have to take a trip to Dublin if I do not find one locally. Thanks, Chris

They're probably monitoring our chat site and caught-on to its use! Just when the word's getting out ...
Someone should have asked Jimmy http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OEM-Ferrari-ENZO-KEY-BLANK-for-550-Maranello_W0QQitemZ4617402393QQcategoryZ6755QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I can't get the shopping cart to finalize the order successfully. Not sure whay it doesn't like about my setup.
Thanks Mario for the advice on the Key. Had it cut at Lockworld in San Francisco. Here are some shots of it cut for my 550. A nice touch I think. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
For those looking for a Key Cutter in the South Bay (South of San Francisco) who will cut this key (or any other steel key), try: Schwenk Lock & Safe Co. 60N. Winchester Blvd. Santa Clara, CA 95050 Right across from Santana Row Shopping Center I took my Enzo key to him and he cut it without much fuss. It took me a while to find him as most locksmith shops will not cut a steel bladed key. Or if they do, they will only cut their steel bladed key that they sell. Lockworld in San Francisco will cut they key as well, but it is a little stretch for those of us in the San Jose Area. I tried calling the Dublin guys that was listed in this thread, but they no longer will cut a steel key. Hope this info helps someone.
Are you guys saying that you bought this key and it arrived un-cut? This is now what the ad syas: "Original ignition key without a transponder and modeled on that of the new Enzo Ferrari GT. The ring is 3.1 cm in diameter and bears the Ferrari badges, both in silver. The key is presented in a special red case with white Ferrari tissue paper and comes with an authentication card. Pre-cut shape. This item can not be used as spare part."
Yes, they cut Ducati Blank Keys too!! Apologies for confusion. I purchased a blank key from Jimmy on Ebay. I searched the threads for a lead as to where to have a steel key cut in the Bay Area and thought I post my findings for another local area locksmith.
