I found issue 1 at Barnes and Noble in Ft. Lauderdale (they even mailed it to me); issue 2 at the same place; issue three at WH Smith at Heathrow. Who knows where issue four might turn up? I'll be traveling through Madrid and Nice soon. Perhaps they have a well stocked newsstand....
Same crap here. Ordered 14th of November 2017. Money taken 28th of December 2017. No magazine until now. I take it that a Brexiteer is in charge of the subscription department. But hey you wanted it not us !!! Manfred/Mitorosso
It's impossible to publish a truly independent magazine about Ferraris, because you are dependent on the goodwill of Ferrari, or dealers, or owners, none of which will deal with you if you criticise their products. Unless you or your friends own every car/product you will ever feature, and you are happy to be completely honest about your product, which, let's face it, nobody is. Or, if you are an authority who self publishes, like FML in the car world (Allen Meadows is an equivalent example in the wine world, which faces the same problems). Oh, and magazines are being killed by Facebook and Google. Less budget = worse paper and worse stories = fewer readers = fewer advertisers = less budget = (...). So it's not a great time to be publishing a specialist magazine about our passion, and kudos to those who manage to do so, though Enzo seem to have made a total hash of it.
Hmm... you can search sold listings on eBay and there's no issue that's fetched quite that much. One has gone for ~£54 though - about $73! FWIW, the editor of evo has just said that if anyone is having problems with overseas subscriptions, send a note to [email protected] -Ed
Image Unavailable, Please Login Looks like they aren’t independent, inside the front cover of the latest issue of Octane there is a statement, “if you like Octane, you will love Enzo”. Fanatical about Ferrari? Enzo is the quarterly magazine devoted to Ferrari, brought to you by the same people behind Octane and Vantage.
When a magazine's team says it is 'independent', I think it's obvious that it simply means it is not an official arm of the manufacturer (e.g. Christophorus is a Porsche product). Since the dawn of time, automotive titles have almost all relied on a healthy advertising income to support them, but you can make a judgement about editorial on its own merits. I once worked for magazine that had delivered substantial criticism about a brand-new car, and consequently a manufacturer had pulled all ad spend from said title. It is eminently possible to have advertisers and be 'independent' in the way that makes sense. -Ed
There has been no secret that Enzo is linked to Octane and Vantage. This does not make the magazine a non-independent publication. Apart from TOFM every magazine is independent. I think that the magazine is very good and based on the comments regarding its value I will keep them all safely to provide for my retirement! However, when the general view is that it is a bad idea to give the publisher any money for a subscription, it concerns me that the UK Ferrari Owners Club is offering a discounted subscription for members.
A general complaint here on this forum seems to be availability - people subscribe and pay, then have to wait for ages. Others try to buy single issues at bookstores and newsstands and find supply there to be "irregular" and unpredictable at least. This all seems quite odd: specialized magazines should be happy that customers want to invest money in their product, especially in a world where about any automotive magazine can be downloaded easily (and illegally).
I'm from the U.S. and just purchased a copy of issue #4......in Antibes....en Francais. Imagine that. I can't find an English version in the world's largest consumer market but every tabac in every Provencal village I visited had a copy of the French version.
When we did the GT shoot on the cover of issue 4, John Barker told us that they took a long time to get agreement with Ferrari on the name and even the font used for the logo. Ferrari specifically requested that it was stated that it was an independent magazine not affiliated to Ferrari. Apparenlty the subcription issues are due to a change of subscription supplier by Dennis publishing for all their magazines, and are being addressed.
I'm a subscriber and I don't have #5 yet. We'll see if their legendary poor fulfillment record has improved.....
I considered to take a subscription on Enzo, but never did, I always found them faster in stores. Exactly the same business as with TOFM, I would find those way sooner at F dealers than subscribers would receive them home.
I mean, you got to be insane to be subscribed to TOFM, lately. Subscription nowadays is 250 € (3 print editions, including the Yearbook, as stated in the last Yearbook) If you buy seperately: 50 € per issue, 100 € for 1 Yearbook.... 50€ + 50€ + 100 € = 250 € !!!!! So, you pay 50 € for nothing and the magazines are ALWAYS delivered late. That's clever business!
There is no store that carries it within a reasonable drive of my home. I'll be on the phone to the U.S. distributor on Monday, though....
