Good evening from Germany (and yes, the derestricted autobahn is the best thing about my country)! Over at supercarmovies.com, two videos of a Nürburgring time attack with a Ferrari Enzo, Maserati MC12, Koenigsegg CCX, Pagani Zonda F Clubsport and Porsche Carrera GT have gone online, the second being the lap of the Enzo. The time was 7.25 min, which is faster than the Carrera GT record and both the (unconfirmed) times of the ZR1 and GT-R. I found this rather surprising, because I didn't think that the Enzo would be a match for the Porsche in its home turf. Then again, the driving by Marc Basseng was excellent. Considering that the electronic dampers went into emergency program half way through the lap, the time is astonishing (as is the movie itself).
Evo recently wrote an article on this that is worth picking up, issue 123. And yes, the part about the driver completing the last half of the lap on springs and skills alone is pretty astonishing, and rather scary. Good stuff!
Tarek, The home page should have a big link entitled something like 'Nurburgring Supercar Challenge' at the bottom of the page. That should take you to a list of videos. It was a little funky loading on my college computer lab system. Took me a couple tries to find it.
Just watched this an hour or so ago, very good stuff. I would be willing to pay a few bucks to have a dvd copy of all those nurburgring videos!
Taken from another thread, the results: Maserati MC12: 7:24,29 Pagani Zonda F Clubsport: 7:24,65 Ferrari Enzo: 7:25,21 Porsche Carrera GT: 7:28,71 Koenigsegg CCX: 7:33,55 Driver was Marc Basseng.
Nein, aber mit ein bisschen Glück lässt sich zumindest in der Gegend um den Bodensee (Stichwort Singen) schon noch ein Stück freie Autobahn finden, wo man über 300 fahren kann. Sorry for the german talk, Fenivision just joked that the Autobahn isn't that derestricted, and I'm saying that that's true, but with a bit of luck you can still find a quiet, derestricted piece of BAB (particulary near Singen/Lake Constance) where one can easily go over 180/190 mph.
high production value on the vids. when the Enzo does the blow-by at the end of the vid you really get an idea of just how insanely fast it is going. Just awesome; major respect for the Enzo and the driver.
yes.. but why do they degrade the quality of the picture by putting the venetian lines across it. Trying to go for the 'cool' look and obscuring what we've gone there to see.
