so i am pretty much in love with the design of the enzo's steering wheel... however i am a little unsure on the plastic bar type thing across the top of the wheel.
my brother-in-law guessed that guessed that it contains lights to give a rough idea of the rpm.
is it functional or just goodlooking?

Your Brother-in-law guessed right. Just like in Formula 1 cars, there are LED lights, in the strip up there, that work like the rev counter, so you know precisely when to change gears.

It does not light up super bright during the day. Cool but pointless IMO, I watch the big tach instead...it is more telling of engine behavior than the little lights...

I'm pretty sure you can use this wheel but all those buttons on the side of air bag would not work . as far as price I think the wheel alone cost $5 grand and the air bag around $3 grand it's not that cool.

oh yeah Ricambi sells them so if you want more info call them but I think only the lights and horn buttons will work do to the fact the 360 does not have some of the buttons in the car.

You can go into the car's menu via the other buttons on the steering wheel (with the tft acting as a screen) and find an option to turn the lights off. So if they do get cumbersome, shutting them off is simply a few menu clicks away. Whether or not you can do it while you're driving is beyond me.

I would think that lights could be better seen via peripheral vision than that tachometer. But then, when you've driven an Enzo as often as Richard, you can just listen to the engine and shift, because you're so used to what it sounds like and when you should shift. :)

Can you turn it on or off while driving...?

The wheel was designed by Franco Cimatti, who's also responsible for the convertible top on the 360 Spider, as well as several aspects of the 612. Franco is an alumnus of Georgia Tech and spoke at their third annual car show. Below are pictures of some of his early Enzo steering wheel sketches.

I suppose you can change it while driving but it is a serious no-no to fiddle with the dash settings while trying to drive I would think. If for example I want to change the time I do so while still in the driveway.

Yeah, that makes the most sense to me. So I'm trying to determine if it's possible to DWF (drive while fiddling). These days, navigation systems or DVD screens in the front cabin of some cars are inoperable while the vehicle is in motion.
