Was wondering what the effect of using a DCT instead of F1 sequential transmission would have in the Enzo.

    Pros...

    1. Faster shifts, especially at lower engine RPM.
    2. Faster acceleration.
    3. Improved stability, especially when downshifting.
    4. Better downshift rev matching.

    Possible cons...

    1. Slightly increased vehicle weight.
    2. Less reliable.
    3. Lost charm of Enzo F1 shifts (e.g., kick in the back when clutch engages, sideways action when turnings and downshifting, F1 sounds).

Note that the engineers of the Lexus LFA selected F1 over DCT partially because of con #3. Eventually nearly every sporty car will have a DCT and F1 and manual transmissions may be considered unique, less boring and/or more fun... until the next new thing (e.g., up/downshift depending on where you look and/or blink in a 3D vehicle control display).

Personally I like manual 3 pedal sequential race gearboxes better than DCT's even on road cars.

You could replace an Enzo's F1 Box with one of these.

They're also a lot lighter but take a bit of learning to get used to. especially R as you have to shift 1/N/R every time to get R which is also a separate knob that you have to pull back and hold as you reverse.

If you don't mind 4K clutch changes we have softwear than can really speed up an Enzo's shifts.

Yes there is that charm of feeling a hint of savagery when the next gear is selected.

I just test drove a 2013 458 spider. Unlike the DCT in my Cali, the 458 DCT gave some of that jerky feedback. You are right I really loved that rawness!

Can't wait for my 458 spider to arrive. Hopefully by September.

Why would you replace it with a much heavier gearbox when you can simply mapthe gearbox to 80 aNd possibly 60ms shifts?

Really? Have seen computers burn F1 clutches faster than a human w/some finesse.

True, but I've seen lots of DCT failures. Maybe it's not an issue anymore.

Unfortunately, getrag DCT boxes still have teething problems. Just look at the 458 threads and you read about them.
