I had the oppotunity last weekend to talk with an icon of the auto industry and a personal friend during an open house who just happen to be a friend of Enzos. Through some very unique circumstances, he met Enzo by way of Enzo's private secretary. This was some time in the late 60's. Over the next many years, he had the opportunity to meet with him in private several times. The secrecy was a condition of their relationship. He was one of the few Americans ever allowed within the doors of the factory without escort. When he decided to purchase a Boxer, Enzo allowed him to follow the complete build of the vehicle through the factory and photodocument every step of the assembly. Unfortunately, he was not able to publish the pictures as this was another condition of the privilege; at least not until Enzo passed away. My friend showed me both the Dino that he owns and the Boxer he documented; both perfect low mile cars...I mean really low miles.

The most interesting part of the discussion concerns the Dino. This was Enzo's favorite model of all the cars he built. It only bears the "Dino" name in tribute to his son and the reason that the Ferrari name is not on the car. It was his beloved son's car, not his.

I hope you will find this as interesting as I did.

Those are the correct headlight fairings with the curve. Most, if not all, of the ones you see nowadays are straight and don't follow the curvature of fender line.

I also see in the interior pic the wind wing latch resting on the floor as most of our have been at one time or another.

:) indeed. Last time mine fell off I thought "right this time its the extreme glue". It stayed on for some time and of course I never touch the thing to avoid another fall, and then I come to the car one morning to see exactly this sight - the latch on the carpet. But this time its not the glue that failed, its the glass! A tiny sliver of glass is still attached to the damn latch and there's now a depression in the glass. Now glued again and has stayed for several months... this time its a glass on glass glue...
