At a recent classic car show this gentleman was polishing the fingerprints of his 328 with a PAPER TOWEL AND WINDEX !

I tried to warn him that the windex will damage the paint but he replied that it's mostly water. This is all after he marveled for 5 minutes as to how clean and shiny my wheels were.

    When will people learn?

paper products WILL scratch the paint also.....

Besides the possible scratching, the windex will also strip whatever wax, etc from the cars surface. I'm sure if we knew the owners cleaning routine we might all be cringing even more.

I still see people dust off sections of their cars with the palm of their hand. Or give a spot a spit bath using their finger tip.

    Agreed. No big deal.
IMO, it's his car, so its "NUNYA" ... "None-Ya F'n business"

A rule I live by: "Don't offer your opinion unless it's asked for, and even then, the best response is usually, "What do you think?" " *

*online forums are an exception to this rule since the sharing of opinions is implied ;)

Agree... nothing epic about this whatsoever.

Have to say, strikes me as kinda strange you taking his picture and going to the effort to start this thread.... just an observation.

Now back to the use of the word "Epic". A quick search turns up this: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=epic "the most overused word ever, next to fail. for even more ****** points, use them together to form "epic fail."

everything is epic now. epic car. epic haircut. epic movie. epic album. epic shut the **** up.

saying "epic win" doesn't make you sound any better, either. and for **cks sake, don't ever say it in person."

So if you must say Epic Fail in regards to detailing, this is probably more representative of the true definition .... you think this is from paper towels and Windex?
Regardless, she can detail for me any day ;)

While I will do the no no and dry my car with a towel, i do agree with the Op.
If someone is at a car show/concors doing the whole polish thing, they might as well do it properly.

Some people pay thousands to have the paint of their brand new ferrari corrected, whats that about?

Imo they should be out driving the wheels off the car and doing less polishing in general, but then thats just me.

She can use a paper towel, spit, Windex, etc. to detail my car, but I reserve the right to thoroughly chastise her afterwards. ;)
