I am building a playlist on spotify and need suggestions! Great riffs, solos, all that good stuff. Got SRV, Pat Travers, Alman Bros, GnR, Rush. Sadly some bands are not on there, but that's ok, there are also some lame live versions like Kiss's rock n roll all night. http://open.spotify.com/user/1233674230/playlist/2FqVnVPSiYjXbQQ6U5cfCu
Pretty much all Metallicas stuff.. And Toto's version of "My guitar gently weeps" .. Pure awesomeness in guitar
SRV circa 1983 from Austin City Limits. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2y6xx2qnqg[/ame] Big Head Todd and the Monsters. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wyd9OcI37AY[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGmnDoAHaoI[/ame] The Arc Angels. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtLw_53C95M[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyU8pAMHBRQ[/ame] Lets not forget Peter Frampton! Immediately popped into my head when I saw the thread title. No mention of Van Halen? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDOFIttS69I[/ame]
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_lwocmL9dQ[/ame] I almost wet myself back in '85 when I heard Nando say..... que to 2:44. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXydX9p_ZxA[/ame] Lets not forget Dire Straits. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Pa9x9fZBtY[/ame] Did I just regress again?
Aren't you worried about all the datamining done by Facebook and connected companies? I prefer grooveshark.
Not sure this qualifies for the OP's criteria, but it is one of those performances we will likely never see again. Actually this entire concert is pretty good, but Bohemian Rhapsody with Elton John and Axl Rose is an unlikely pairing that just works. Freddie Mercury dominated Queen, but Brian May was a helluva guitar player in his own right. When Axl comes in at 3:20, the young kids realize can what a f***ing rock star this guy was 20 years ago. Cream live version of Crossroads Jimi Hendrix From Live at the Fillmore East Power of love, Message of love, Who Knows, Tryin to be Black Sabbath Live version of Supernaut, Sweet Leaf, Killing youself to live, War Pigs
"I don't need no Doctor" Live from Humble Pie, never lets you down. Neil Young live version of "All Along the Watchtower". He makes it his own.
The Who: Live at Leeds is probably the greatest live album made. Try Sparks/amazing journey from that The Band: Last Waltz it's very good too, up on cripple creek and the night they drove old Dixie down are good.
LOL... first heard that one in the Cartouch Disco in Utrect, NL way back then. The remix, of course. As a tie-in, that location is now the Stairway to Heaven Café http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stairway_to_Heaven_(caf%C3%A9) https://www.facebook.com/StairwayUtrecht Image Unavailable, Please Login
The entire "In Concert" album by Derek and the Dominos. The original release, not the 1994 "Live at the Fillmore" which is almost the same, but crucially features a different, worse, version of the song Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad. This is the one I'm talking about: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Aw7Jai7peM[/ame] Also, if we're talking The Band then I highly recommend the album Rock of Ages instead of Last Waltz. Last Waltz gets all the acclaim cos of the movie, and also cos it's a great concert, but Rock of Ages is better, in my opinion. Sublime playing by all: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDgu6iE4od0[/ame] I can think of many many others, but these are my suggestions for today.
I consider this version of Heaven and Hell as performed by: Dio, Iommi, Butler, and Appice the definitive live metal recording: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoxkuO2G74I[/ame] It is an amazing recording of the classic Dio Era Sabbath hit with proper historical reference in not calling the band Black Sabbath.
i listen to this on my ipod at least once a day. I got to see the heaven and hell tour. Epic doesn't come close to describing it, but its a hell of a good start.
I was just listening to that yesterday. I also saw Dio/BS live back in the day and that song live is amazing.
