We got rained out on our Bridgeport run on the 22nd (had to cut it short and go to Georgetown instead), so we're going to Bridgeport on Saturday, Sept 29.

Same meeting time and place: 9 AM, Starbucks in EDH.

I expect 20-30 cars this time. Hopefully the Atom, SLR, and one of the Carrrea GT's can make it. Several new Lambos, a Vanquish and many other possibles have been invited. Nearly 100 invited in all...feel free to invite your friends with an exotic (see below).

The weather forecast is perfect for Saturday the 29th:
    Bridgeport:
    Clear. Highs 65 to 75

    El Dorado Hills:
    Clear. Highs 78 to 84.

    Here's the usual blurb...

Ernie’s annual Exotic Car Run to Bridgeport is this Saturday, September 29th.

Meet at the usual Starbucks in El Dorado Hills (4311 Town Center) at 9 AM sharp. We’ll depart at 9:15 so please be gassed up and ready to go.

Route: East on Hwy 50 to Sly Park Rd, up Mormon Emigrant Trail to Hwy 88, right on 89 and over Monitor Pass (!) to Hwy 395. It’s about 2¾ hours each way (162 miles each way). We’ll have lunch at the usual place (Burger Barn in Bridgeport…awesome burgers, tacos, etc.)

Every year about half of the cars turn back at about the 100-mile mark so if you can’t spare the whole 5 or 6 hours then feel free to join in for as long as you like.

This is an exotic car run, so the following types of cars are welcome:

Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus, high-end Porsche (GT3, etc), Aston Martin, Ford GT, etc...you get the idea

Please, no Vettes, Vipers, BMW, Audi, etc.

As always, this is a somewhat leisurely drive with perhaps some spirited moments, so mature drivers only please.

Feel free to invite your friends with exotic cars! You’ll love the drive, people, scenery, cars and the food!

Get there a little before 9:00 to see the incredible line-up of cars start arriving…

No invitations or RSVP...just SHOW UP! See you there!

Nope. Its just not a run for those type of cars. Just like you wouldnt take a Harley to a street bike event, or show up with greek food at a japanese food festival.

    Pretty simple.

interesting but very lame discussion. IMO, if you get a car to impress others you've got bigger issues than whether it's a exotic or not. As long you own it, drive it, enjoy it, who cares?? A little harsh but it's your car and not their's. If somebody doesn't want you on their drive there will be plenty others. If one's ego is dependent on what one drives, you don't want to be associated with them anyway. 2 cents..

Good point. Try out the cruise after santana row. Generally a bigger meet and as long as you're not an idiot you should be welcome on the cruise. It's more about the car enthusiasts rather than the cars they own.

I took it in the same vein as "CS vs 430" or other similar polls. ;)

Just a fun question to get people talking to each other.

You guys have a fun, safe, and exclusive drive. I'm sure the pictures will be beautiful. My car could be exotic by the standards in the other thread.

Production: 507 made in 6 years, that's only 7/month (Makes those Italian cars look mass produced)
    In 1992 it was $110,000
It's the only one in the USA
    It'll do 190 mph

But, it still has a BMW roundel on the hood so I couldn't come.

    Enjoy,
    Greg

At 10 PM I just finished washing the car (and meticulously drying it), and I left it outside so I wouldn't annoy the neighborhood by starting it up to put it in the garage. Then out of nowhere we get a 10 minute squall. So I woke everyone up, put it in the garage and dried it again. Which one of you guys are performing raindances every time I plan a drive?

The 11:00 news says that it was just thin band of rain, 20 minutes-worth, and that the Sierra peaks got a light dusting of snow. They said the snow will melt within a few hours so by morning I think we're looking A-OK. The forecast is a "bright" sunny day, but a little crisp you might say as they have predicted the temperate to be 50s in the Sierra's. Oh well the engines like cool air anyway.

XSSSIVE: We'll be very glad to see you in Markleeville. Drive the Lambo or else you risk getting lost in the sea of Ferrari's!!!

Just a dusting of snow on the mountains. Roads are clear. It should be a good day for a drive!

Nice drive! Perfect weather except for a little slush at the top of Carson Pass. Nice meeting the 575 and the Gallardo in Markleeville.

Not much in the way of traffic problems, except that blasted Airstream trailer in Walker Canyon...I was dying behind that thing (turnouts, hello...)

Too much fun; I don't know how we will make it through winter without these mountain drives!!!

Here's a few pics. If anyone else got some pics please post them.

Sorry to have missed it - it's always a great time. Unfortunately, free weekends have become scarce the last four months or so, and we had plans to go to Apple Hill with another couple. In the end, they didn't stick with us for very long, and decided to do a drive of their own, while we decided to come back to town. Leaving Apple Hill, I saw a blue Elise with hardtop on, passing by me as I waited to get on 50, and I immediately said to Corrie, "That's gotta be Tony." When I finally caught up with him around Folsom, I found that I was correct. We exchanged waves, and cruised together until I got off at Watt.

Corrie was disappointed that we didn't get to do the run this year, so next year, we're coming - put that in INK! :)

Oh, and yeah, please post more pics. :D

Great drive Ernie. Sorry I had to jet home after lunch, but the wife revoked my hall pass.

    Ernie,

Sorry I missed you guys yesterday. My son was all fired up to go. Unfortunately I have been fighting a bug the last 2 weeks and it snuck back up and bit me again on Friday night. My son and I will be looking forward to your next adventure.

PT 328: Sorry you couldn't make it. We'll hook up next time.

XSSSIVE: Yeah that was cool seeing you guys pull out in front of the pack on hwy 89...it is amazing that you timed it just right so that you hit the intersection right as we were approaching (I'm impressed!).

When you had to leave I saw you take off (thanks for the sounds!) and I thought it was a bummer but I know the hall-pass deal...although you could have pulled the old "gee I missed your call, the cell coverage is bad in the mountains".

The 575 and I had a nice drive up Moniter after you left (I bet he told you already).

Man I want one of those Gallardo's as a back-up daily driver (as in rainy-day daily driver)!

You guys were a lot of fun, I hope we can hook up on future drives.
