Any other pics?? I have nothing like that, and no plugs not used. Is it from the throttle body and it came off while you were cleaning. I can’t imagine the car was running ok with it disconnected if it was a throttle body connections.

    How many pins ?
If it has 2 pins, it's most probably connector 31S on wiring diagram. Not used on Euro models, it is used on US Spider models for secondary air injection in the exhaust.

It does have two pins and is on a Euro model. The cable was so loose when I touched it that I thought I could not have been connected to something, and I've been searching around the engine bay again and really cannot find anything missing a connector/where it would go to. The car ran fine before, though I've not dared start it since. Eric, your answer does make sense and is much appreciated!

Thank you both very much, and fingers crossed for a test run tomorrow!

Confirming that the connector has no purpose and the car works fine.

    Thanks again

Maybe it could be useful for engine bay LED's if you are into that kind of thing. Could be a kit for you Euro guys.

It may work, but only when the car was warming up :p

Violet wire takes power from the RH Master Motronic relay (and fuse 38 on some cars). The RH Motronic ECU provides an earth (masse) on the blue/green wire to turn on the "lights".
