I swear I did a search, somewhat suprised I didn't find these....... CEL came on the 355 again, using the 3100 I pulled P1123 & P1125. It seams to be running fine except for a very very slight miss at idle. Might just be how these sound, no other local 355's for me to compare it to. EDIT - whoops, 1997 OBD II 355 GTS
I posted almost the same exact post a while back (12/9/06): http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=131650&highlight=codes Turns out I had a couple of old generation sending units on my cats. Once those were replaced I haven't had a single problem with the mixture or the CEL coming on! I would first check for loose connections and then test the sending units. Fairly simple and not overly expensive fix, even if you need to replace them Good luck!
Thanks for the info. Strange, that thread did not come up when I did a search for either code. To refresh my memory, those sending units monitor the temperature of the CATS, correct? The ECU thinks the CATS are either too hot or too cold so the mixture is being enriched to compensate. In a few weeks a local speed shop is using this car for a high flow CAT test bed & will also make up a set of test pipes for the car. Good timing
Ok, so with both codes, this means both CAT ECU's are kicking off errors. Correct? So either both ECU's are acting up, or lose connection or both thermo couples are loose or damaged. Ok, easy enough to start with. Step one, take it all apart and clean all connections. This place is awesome. Not sure how else a Ferrari owner 130 miles away from the dealer would stay sane. Hopefully down the road I'll have something to contribute back to the group.
I never had codes when my cat ECU's acted up. Those codes you have are for "long term fuel Trim" for both banks 1 & 2. If you are running rich, you may actually be having overheated cats in this case! If you suspect a miss, then you may be right, and have some bad spark plug cables or something (see item #4 below). Here are the causes listed in the diagnostic trouble codes list from Ferrari: System too Rich (min) 1 Check the fuel pressure 2Check HC CO emission with no lambda integrator 3 Check injector and wiring 4 check ignition coil and wiring (!) 5 check exaust system leakage
Thanks for the game plan. I have a feeling I will eventually have all of the Innovate diagnostic equipment that is on my 928 installed on the 355
