I resisted getting this installed in my R8 and was using a windshield mounted detector. I got nailed with a laser doing 99 in a 55 zone; in Illinois, it had become a Class A misdemeanor with the possibility of a big fine and jail time; the cop mercifully wrote it for 89, a Class B misdemeanor; I HAD to go to court and hire an attorney who had to cut a deal with the prosecutor.....it's all about revenue.
I had a radar/laser jammer system in the car within 2 weeks.
