Unbelievable! (At least for 2018) http://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/23103594/espn-goes-commercial-free-rest-2018-f1-coverage-us
Awesome. Can we thank Mother's for this? Seems so from the article Paul linked.. "Mothers Polish will be the presenting sponsor for the season's coverage." When I need more car care products, Mother's is the brand I will be reaching for. T
I take back everything I said about the first race fiasco. And I agree about Mother's. Support them like crazy and show this works.
I imagine part of the reason they can do this is because the audience is pretty small. So, the advertising costs are not outrageous. But its Mother's target audience so you nail each viewer directly with this action in a positive way
Thank you ESPN and Mothers. I've been using Mothers clay bar system a few times now and thought about trying out Meguiar's, but I'll stick with Mother's.
I've been using Meguires quick detailer for years with great results... time to look at Mothers. Such an awesome investment for them to make in the sport.
I’m embarassed to say I didn’t notice. But that explains why I didn’t pause or change channel for over two hours.
We’re finally getting what we’ve deserved for years now, competent commentary with the broadcast teams at the events rather than locked in a studio in Connecticut somewhere and now uninterrupted by endless blathering commercials. Dig it! https://jalopnik.com/espn-will-air-formula-one-with-no-commercials-for-all-o-1825156726 BHW
Cool- I had to check the dateline on the story when I first saw it to make sure this wasn't an April Fool's joke!
Well, not quite. The replay on Sunday afternoon did have commercial breaks, but they always picked up the race after the breaks exactly where they had left off, so nothing was missed; the advantage of taped coverage. The ad breaks were a bit annoying, but since nothing was missed, I can accept that.
I noticed in qualifying that there were no breaks, and after the interviews someone sitting at a desk said “Thank you for watching Formula One coverage in ESPN presented exclusively by Mothers.” My first thought was “Sorry Meguiars and Griots. I think I have a new favorite.” For the rebroadcast later in the afternoon, sure, drop in a few ad breaks so long as they don’t cut any of the race. But for the live broadcasts, I’m happy.
