There are a ton of threads here about cleaning. However I would like some advice I what I could carry with me for quick touch ups when the car isn't really dirty - i.e. in need of a full wash or when a wash isn't practical.

Could you guys help build me a "kit"

    Towels?
    Cleaner?
    Wheel / Tire Cleaner?
    ???

    Thanks!

Griot's Speed Shine and a microfiber. Period. End of story.

Agreed...buy Speed Shine by the gallon...and get the microfiber cloths at Costco...just remember to rip the little white labels off them...and always wash them seperate from cotton towels...the microfiber acts like velco and clogs up the fibers.

I'll second the recommendation for Costco's microfiber towels. They are bright yellow, and come in a bulk pack (Costco...bulk.....shocker). I think they run somewhere around $12-$16 for the pack, which is practically highway robbery for microfiber towels.

I use Meguiars products loyally, and with great success. Their "Quik Detailer" is a great product to keep in the trunk of the car along with some towels... I have nothing against Griot's at all - in fact, I'd love to own every product they sell (who wouldn't)... I'm just waiting for the appropriate holiday/birthday to put some of their stuff on a "wish list." Until then, I just use what I can get over-the-counter, and the best of that bunch is (IMO) Meguiars.

Okay - That makes 2 :). However I've had the Costco member ship twice now and I've used it twice... Once each day that I've purchased the membership card... I refuse to do it again on the general principle that I simply can't remember to shop there...

Any other equivalents out there - good value?

Nope...not for that little money. Just get one of your friends/coworkers with a Costco membership to pick you up a pack next time they're there (probably tomorrow), and you'll be set.

Yes. I get my microfiber towels at Dollar General (of course I drive my crappy green 1993 Saturn when I go there).

Tires are subjective. Some people like shine, others don't. For matte finish, use the Griot's Tire Dressing. For more shine, use this Meguires stuff: http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=G-74 It smells like grape juice!

I agree - Speed Shine is the best.
