Does anyone know where the closest premium ethanol free gas is to Houston? I know Buc-ee's in Waller has ethanol free, but it is 87 octane...
I think it is radius from city. Apparently there is a good one in Columbus. I am going to try and make the drive this weekend. Will let everyone know!
Dispensers with Ethanol Free Gas: Bucees Katy will have 87 and 92 when it opens Bucees Brazoria has 87 and 92 Bucees Lake Jackson has 87 (they swapped out the 92 for 87) MSR Houston has 92 Lee Oil Alvin has 92 Bay Oil, Dickinson has 92 Galveston Yacht Basin Dry Stack Storage has 92 Tug's Boathouse BBQ (Lake Travis) has 92 Express Lube in Fredericksburg has 92 MSR Dyno is featuring the Gulf Dyno Challenge this weekend August 12, 10 AM - 4 PM; you can try the Gulf 92 Premium from MSR Pumps, register for the Challenge and get a refund for up to 5 gallons of the Gulf fuel when you present the dyno plot for pump gas and Gulf gas. Radical Sportscars is also sponsoring a driving event this weekend for $250 for two days on-track. VIP lunch and after track party on Saturday. Gulf guys will be there all day. I heard on the radio this weekend that Walmart has an Ethanol-Free pump at some stations, but I have not confirmed.
Hey Kurt, you can buy ethanol free gas in both regular and "premium" in Seven Points, TX at the Causeway Marina. Maybe an hour and half from you. Take your gas cans.
It's closer than Katy!!!! Walmart in Weatherford has some ethanol-free pumps, but Regular only (last time I checked, about a year ago). Might be time to check them out again.
Uh oh! Buc-ees may not carry the Premium at their stores any more - can still buy from: MSR HOUSTON, ANGLETON TX LEE OIL CO, ALVIN TX BAY OIL CO, DICKINSON TX TUGGS BOATHOUSE BBQ AND GAS, JONESTOWN TX GALVESTON BASIN ALSO SELLS IT AT THEIR DRY STACK STORAGE, YOU CAN DISPENSE INTO CAR, BOAT OR JUG.
Bucees has discontinued premium ethanol-free gas, not sure when they stopped carrying it but I have confirmed it is no longer available. Best to go to Gulf Marine Facebook page and check other locations. I have looked around and all the other outlets have switched to regular as well. The race fuel shops still carry the 93 premium and higher in packages but prices are $10+/gallon. If we can find a land-based location with a dispenser then the retailer can contact Gulf Racing Fuels to get the premium gas.
Any suggestions about 100% Premium in North Texas? I'm headed up the US 75 corridor on Friday from Dallas and I probably only have about a quarter tank left after having dropped her off for service. I know I can get it in Calera, OK but not sure I have the range. I've found an old thread about a Shell on Harry Hines but think the info is probably stale as I've been told it is presently banned in Dallas County. True dat?
Used to be a great bbq joint in Calera. I think you can get 100% at the gas station near the huge Indian casino in OK, right across the Red River. https://www.pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=OK Not sure it's much closer to Metroplex than Calera though. Would depend on where in DFW you are driving from. T
Thanks, Tom.I've never looked for food in Calera because I'm usually in transit and just wanting to get to my destination but I'll give it a shot. The Peanut Shoppe has 100% Premium - I'm just not sure I've got enough left in the tank to get there but I've called them and confirmed. Hadn't thought about the casino though. Ideally I'd find something between Plano and Sherman. If necessary I could go via I-35 and Denton.
From the listing: We carry the VP Fuels in quarts, gallons, and 5-gallon cans only - we have no drive-up fuel pumps ......and no price. <sigh>
The the Q place in Calera is closed, I think. Anyway, assuming you are leaving from Boardwalk, these are in Gainesville, TX, which is ca. 20 miles from the Indian casino/gas station in Thackerville. Of course, not the most direct route home. From there you can take US-69 to Sherman/Denison and catch up again with US-75. I would call ahead...T
Thanks, guys. I'm actually coming from Stuart's where I'm having a little cosmetic work done since she's already in the Metroplex for her annual service. I'm well familiar with that run up I-35 through Denton and Gainesville as my kid was a Frog until graduating this past May but I'll be starting on the East side of town and don't really want to add an extra 50 or so miles to the trip. I'm thinking a quick splash and go if necessary to get me as far as Calera or Macalester where I can do some serious tanking up. I REALLY appreciate you both going out of your ways to help me get sorted out and I'll undoubtedly make good on my intentions of coming down and crashing one of your local events one of these days (as the OK FCA chapter doesn't do much) - I'll be the guy in the Grigio Ingrid 612 with Osage tags. Thanks again - Jeff
