Did we ever decide whether history is going to judge the 575HGTC as a model in itself, or a kind of optioned-up 575?

I notice 599 HGTEs, which authorities here say are less special than HGTC 575s, are starting to command a premium.

Darius- Both are just option packages and similar in price for the options. The HGTE featured more bling (seats, wheels, etc) than the HGTC which is only distinguishable from the 575M to knowledgeable lunatic fringe cases like us. CCM brakes, ducts, A-arms, lower body panel, etc were the big item on the HGTC, and those were already standard on the 599. The HGTC had a half set of its own shocks, too, where the HGTE used the same shocks as the standard 599. HGTE shifting went from 100 ms to 85 ms, and the HGTC went from 220 ms to 180 ms, so similar there, too.

Yet more knowledge! I have never driven a 575 HGTC though have sat in Markus's (Elsi's) one which very nice.

I remember being given the 599 HGTE to drive/review a couple of years after the original 599. I remember finding both very fast but a bit underwhelming, and thinking the HGTE was more more show than more go.

Do they conceive of these variations at the outset or add them to boost sales? Why were the 575 and 599 the only ones in the line to get them? (WSR was a bit different, and no such options on Testa/TR/M or F12, or as far as I know Boxers or Daytonas).

Darius- Adding an HGTX version has been a Ferrari strategy for decades. 575, 612 (HGTS, HGTC, HGT1, HGT2), 599, California 30 and California T. The 348 and F355 had some special versions, too. None have included more power that I am aware of. The HGTC 575M does have its own dedicated Motronic ECUs, but Ferrari never claimed more hp.

It would be interesting to know if the 575 HGTC actually had more power through those small changes..

Darius- The straight center pipes introduced in Summer/Fall 2003 (AN 51797) probably had more effect on hp, but the lower back pressure HGTC mufflers probably helped a bit. I am running a set of the Superamerica HGTC mufflers. Slightly different design, same tailpipes.

Thanks Terry. I know Fabio would have interesting comments to add right here, if he were not a non-person on this forum.

An Italian engineer who owns a 575 HGTC, active and articulate contributor, dreamed of working at Ferrari, banned from taking part in the world's leading Ferrari forum..as someone who works in the media, that makes less than zero sense. It's like me banning one of my top magazine writers because they annoyed me once.

Sorry to stray off topic, but this is about an Italy HGTC F1 like Fabio's.

:) Darius, I'm sure Fabio enjoys your comments and the sentiment is mutual.
Along Taz's comments, at the very least the less restrictive HGTC silencers had to add something to the horse power figures of those cars. The car for sale in Italy does not appear to have its original silencers.

Back in September, a factory-built HGTC came up for sale not to far from me.

Chassis no. 139804, it had a life in the Netherlands but had made its way to Switzerland. 102k kms (63k miles), the asking price was just CHF65k (about the same in USD, or 60EUR/50GBP but EU VAT would most likely be payable if it was exported back into an EU country). Has anyone ever seen a higher miles HGTC?

    139804 | Ferrari - Lamborghini Register Nederland

I had planned to take a closer look but hesitated for a number of reasons...

It was Grigio Alloy, which has never been high up on my list, and then there was the 100% blu scuro interior with carbon options including the seats, cage and the dreaded harnesses with no inertia-reel belts. e.g. a pretty hard-core cockpit but with a pipe-and-slippers colour scheme. It might have just about worked as a sleeper/Q-car but the red harnesses would have given it away.

It was only listed for a week and probably sold quickly.

I hope that somebody got a bargain - although one would have had to be sure that there those brakes were in good condition.

Fabio committed a breach of the rules, by marketing his commercial products (exhaust systems) on the forum without the correct membership level. This was clearly against the forum rules, and he apologised; he should have been allowed to continue after a slap on the wrist, and a promise he wouldn't do it again.

He did promise, but there was an email/online spat between him and Rob Lay, compounded by language issues and Fabio's natural Italian exuberance (which you could say goes well with our cars). A minor misunderstanding. The supreme leader then sent Fabio to the gulag, where he has remained ever since.

Whether the misunderstanding was exacerbated by the highly sensitive nature of the powers that be, who overreacted dramatically by exercising a kind of neo-Stalinist no-platform policy, is something I'm not going to pass comment on.

Anyway, we lost one of our best members and contributors.

    Hello Terry,
yes she appear a nice conserved car, black is great colour for this Ferrari, even if in combo with the black interior is a little bit heavy, at least for my taste.
The red that I seen on august in Bologna who is of a engineer guy of Cesena, I posted a picture weeks ago, i imagine of the guy of which it is spoken here .....
Is a beast of car and sounds like the old F1 of Nigel Mansell...chills...
