Can a Euro spec car have the rear bumper converted back? What has to be done?
Where did you find that one? The Boxers that came new to Canada all had Euro spec bumpers. None of those appendages they hung on the American stuff, in a misguided attempt at safety. Lots of gray market types like Jas Jit Rawala didn't work to a universal standard. I doubt that one solution would cover all the problems you might encounter... However it will look better and probably remove some weight to; once converted back to what Enzo intended! CH
Sorry, I was talking about Testarossa's. I would like to convert a Euro from US conversion back to Euro bumper.
I believe you would have to removed the license plate housing.. then fill the two holes.. Not sure on the license lamps or license mounts after removal.. Robbie
You will have to remove unhook the license plate lights, and then remove the bumper from the car. Then remove the 4 nuts that secure that "black central part" that all U.S. cars have. Then you will need to fill in the 4 holes, simple fiberglass repair. Then take the bumper to a good painter guy and have him paint it to match your car. Then reinstall the bumper - have a friend help - be careful not to scratch anything. It's really an easy job to do and looks sooooo much better than the U.S. version - IMHO.
US vs Euro. US has the black bumper on the first pic. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Francois is the top picture your new baby? BTW I think the Euro bumper looks fantastic however, I have a hard time changing or adding anything to my car that didn't come with it from factory. Back in the day I had a Mustang and did nothing but look for body kits and sppoilers to add to it to make it more appealing, kinda like what some kids do to their civics. These cars are a work of art. Anytime modifications are done to make them look more exotic usually ends up creating the opposite effect. I'm even debating a wheel change except for maybe going to a later style of rim taken from the same model.
Hi Guys, Yep, like John mentionned mine is the bottom one without the black bumper. And I like it a whole lot more. I agree with you that these are work of art and that is one of the main reason I bought one, this design, even if it has detractors, is awesome to me. About the wheel change I have the original wheels but also I am awaiting Speedline mags. When I saw them I couldn't resist. I will post pics when I get them. At this moment my TR is in the body shop getting the bottom skirts back to original black since they were painted rosso corsa. Hey John: To be or not to be with bumper, that is the question. What's you answer? ;-)
...I once knew a girl from France, when she bent over the euro bumper I would get a ....in my pants. Not Shakespeare but.... BTW, I did the euro conversion on my US 91 Testarossa.....much better looking. Also, this thread subject has come up before. I posted some pix as well. If I find the thread, I will post a link. Euro all the way Francois. Hey Shamile did you just fiberglass the holes and repaint when you converted??
Dear Ferraristi, I didn't do it myself. I took the bumper off, sent it out to a Ferrari repair shop ( not necessarily authorized) and had them re-glass and repaint. The bumper itself is fiberglass the repair is just standard fiberglass repair. Even color matching is easy as the bumper itself is surrounded by black trim and black rubber so it blends really well. The funny part about blending was not the color but it looked too new and perfect. The rest of the car has the shiny paint but wax swirls, minor marks and that showed up more. ....about 10,000 miles later....all blended Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice !
