Spoke to GTO Engineering last week regarding an ECU "mod," which I didn't quite understand. They said the only difference between a Euro and U.S 355 ECU is the Euro version doesn't have the "ground" wire plugged in and the U.S version does. My buddy had them do the mod. I guess they just unplug or snip a wire and tidy it up. Car does seem to run fine and very smooth btw.

Electrical is certainly not my forte. Anyone have a clue what they are referring to?

    No idea. 5.2 car?

I can't find any Motronic wiring differences between Euro and USA other than:

No 3rd thermocouple ECU wiring on Euro car (but it's a signal wire, not an earth wire).
Additional OBD2 wiring on USA (but no extra ECU pins used as far as I can see on the USA car)

The only earth wire I can see goes to a splice which hooks up to the main engine earth on the engine block. I can't see the car working too well without that. Anyway, both Euro & USA diagrams show the same wiring for this.

(EDIT) The USA 2.7 car has an extra orange-blue wire attached to each ECU (pin 39) which goes to an earth via a splice.

No idea what it does. It's a big wire, so not likely a pin-programming wire.

Does anyone have a pinout for the 2.7?

That might be what they are referring to.

Wire marked in magenta, rather than orange/blue.

They probably just added an earth wire close to each ECU rather than cutting into the harness to find the earth splices.

This is all foreign to me. What does it all mean? Performance benefits?

    No, just reliability.
