Alonso set fastest time of the racing drivers with MS right behind him. Looks very promising: 2 1 Fernando Alonso Renault 1:33.579 3 5 Michael Schumacher Ferrari 1:33.619 6 7 Ralf Schumacher Toyota 1:33.883 7 12 Jenson Button Honda 1:33.920 9 2 Giancarlo Fisichella Renault 1:34.030 11 10 Nico Rosberg Williams-Cosworth 1:34.215 13 3 Kimi Räikkönen McLaren-Mercedes 1:34.536 14 6 Felipe Massa Ferrari 1:34.546
That Ferrari rear wing did look to move around a bit, though. I want to see what Wurz can do during a race in the Williams now. He wasn't bad in the McLaren. He actually set the fastest lap, but I don't know if it counted because the checkered flag came down literally 1 second before he crossed the line. Edit: Nevermind, I see you put up the times for the race drivers and removed the test drivers.
Regarding Ferrari's engine upgrade this weekend, I thought this would be the second weekend on the current engine. Can they make upgrades without essentially changing the engine? Looks to be an interesting battle this weekend.
Yes it's the 2nd weekend on the current engine. They brought new electronics that improves torque and power.
I haven't seen it on TV yet. Just seen the laptimes on formula1.com --> Good see that Franck Montagny was only 0.4secs of Sato in a car he had never driven before. Ide would have been 3 seconds back based on his current form. --> Rubens is still subtantially behind Jenson. He needs to get his act together real quick --> Disappointing to see the McLarens so far down the order. Apart from Bahrain, they haven't shown any real pace like last year's car. They seem to either be slow but reliable (2006) or fast but fragile (2005). Makes me think they wont fight for pole and qualify mid-pack again. Sheesh!
The Midlands suprisingly look decent. They both had faster times than Massa in practice 2. Race should be very interesting with MS and FA so close. Mark
Probably on fumes. (Midlands) MS used the softer compound in both sessions while Felipe used the harder one in the 2nd session. The softer is clearly the one to use this weekend. That's why Massa was so slow in the 2nd session.
I love F1 and do care-but 1st day times are meaningless in my book... I'll be in front of the tube and here on FChat when it is crunch time....
well, to be honest, i think FA is just cruising around for the practise a bit. p/s : is massa also using the same engine from the previous race?
Ferrari 1-2 in the final practice with the fastest times of the weekend by .2 secs. This will be an interesting qualifying session.
