IMHO, it will be the most important race of the year-it will show whether the Scuderia are contenders or pretenders. I know Imola was important but Ferrari/Bridgestone have done tons of testing there.

More importantly, Schumey's motor will be on its 2nd race while Alonso's will have a fresh one. I think a lot of questions will be answered this weekend....

    Agreed to all.

I think Ferrari will do fine as in fighting for 3rd spot at best. So neither contender nor pretender.

I feel the same way. I also hope to see more of Raikkonen, he didn't do much last race.

This two race rule for engines seems to take away some of the competition if a driver has to worry about reliability, and if the engine is down on performance because of its second outing.

I don't particularly like the 2 race engine rule, but it does bring back a skill that F1 and other racers had years ago.....being able to bring home a duff car.

That's a skill that up til now was lost.

I totally hate that rule because it is what endurance racing is all about. And F1 is not endurance racing. Luckily.

That stupid rule prevents cars from running on Friday and only do the minimum program on Saturday. And in the race, particularly the 2nd one drivers baby their car instead of going for an all out assault on the front.

The intent of the 2 race/engine rule was to save costs and guess what: It increased costs because now even more engineering and manufacturing has to go into the engine. The small costs of building less engines (by blue collar workers) is hugely offset by the additional costs of engineering (white collar).

Stupid rule that should be abandoned.

Definitely should be disposed of two race engine rule. It has hurt the sport so much more than it has helped it. It's sad they have taken away so much of the racing by worrying about whether your engine is going to blow or not.

I would really like to know who is deciding what rules to implement in the name of saving money. I don't think I have seen one rule they've made actually lower costs. If the teams have the money they will find a way to spend it. Ferrari, McLaren, Honda, Toyota and all the others will not stop spending money. If $400 million is allocated to F1, then the teams will find somewhere to spend it.

If they want to save money, then a way to limit how much the teams receive needs to be implemented. For instance, Bernie could set up a bank where all sponsor money and funding from their own wallet had to be funneled through and you were given an account with a set amount to spend. No other money could be spent towards your F1 team. Otherwise if the teams have the money they will put it to good use and find and edge somewhere.

There is one rule that will save the teams BILLIONS of dollars in development and testing costs and will at the same time increase the sporting aspects of F1: One tire supplier starting in 2007.

This will instantly eliminate countless months of test sessions, level the playing field to where it really matters (chassis and engine design) and make the sport more driver based. Best thing that has happened to F1 in a long time. Oh and safety will improve as well and tinkering with all the other car regulations will become less necessary. Paradise!

:D i agree, but thats a step back technological wise i guess. with that kinda gear ratios, i guess its almost impossible to press the clutch at every gear change, at every corners. btws, i do agree on the 2 engine rule crap. why the engine? why not the gearbox, or something else?
p/s : anyone seen kimi's racing past few weeks? aside from bahrain, i can see that kimi's pretty demotivated and down. maybe he's on his way to the scuderia thats why.
