A Euro GTS headed to San Diego, not to be red anymore! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Blu Sera Metallizzato is the color of my first-purchased Dino (04808), Jon. It's an elegant color that looks rich in sunlight, and black at night. I think the Euro GTS will look great in its new color! Fred
I picked this car up Tuesday morning in Menlo Park, Ca and took one of the most beautiful drives you can make. Unfortunately I wasn't driving the Dino but pulling it on a trailer. This car is a 73 Euro GTS originally silver in color. You can still see the original color inside the doors. Originally was going to be a cosmetic restoration with a color change from Silver to Blu Sera Metallizzato but has expanded to a total rotisserie restoration. The owner flew down Thursday to help for 3 days and could make decisions as we disassembled the car. Tomorrow the engine comes out and the glass. Then on to the rotisserie to be media blasted next week. Today we took the engine out, so not much left to do in the way of parts to remove. Wiring, odds and ends and then the FIBERGLASS!. The fiberglass is a real P.I.T.A. especially when covered with dynamat, so figuring a couple of days on that. By the end of next week it should be ready to go to the media blaster. No, but I sure needed one!! He was there for 3 days so we had to push as he wanted to be there for engine removal. Just made it!
Hey, I resemble that remark! And that was a hot day at Concorso, perfect for a little afternoon shut eye... Seriously, I had a great time helping dismantle the car. Major thanks to Jon and Charlie for putting up with me.
More taking this thing apart today, which should be finished tomorrow. It goes on a rotisserie tomorrow to finish the wiring removal and fiberglass. Interesting to see it was wired forAC even though a Euro model. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Excited for another one of your rotisserie restorations. It is interesting that so many of these cars that were painted "Ferrari Red" years ago when that was the rage are now either going back to their original colors or to other factory colors.
There were definitely a lot of Dino's repainted red including this one. One more day to have this completely stripped and ready for the blaster. The inside was covered in Dynamat a real P.I.T.A to remove and time consuming. With the floor pan off there is no evidence of any damage, a nice straight car. Now totally stripped and headed for blaster. It takes 6 days to completely strip with the fiberglass removal taking a day and a half by itself, hundreds and hundreds of rivets! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've seen you do this on a number of cars, but it's a little unsettling to see it happen to a car I was driving 10 days ago.
excuses for question; yet given that car was a functioning/driving machine, what percentage of wiring and/or electrical components usually will be replaced? especially as these parts become ever more difficult to source. as a matter of course given the scope of the project...everything electric (wires) get replaced? Thanks Jack
Media blast is 90% done with very little rust or previous damage found. Looks like the nose had some previous damage but not much at all. Rust behind the the rear wheels which I would be surprised not to find any. They hadn't done the doors yet but from the looks of things so far I would doubt if much rust. Blue Sera will be absolutely gorgeous. I'd have that color on any car. Some think it is a shade of green. I really don't see it green at all but I'm told very often ''your green car''. Good choice. Can't wait to see it done.
Marks car is moving and now with the plating and powdercoating done the rebuilding of parts can begin. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
