My attorney owns a 1985 Euro 308 GTS QV. It is #58055. It is red with black leather piped in red interior. I think it has about 15,000 miles on it. My Father originally bought it new as a gray market car from an importer in Pittsburgh. He sold it to our attorney back in the late 80s. I think it has a speedometer in miles, not kilometers, if I remember correctly. It definitely has europe bumpers and the vents are painted red. He has not driven it in about 6 years. He plans on getting it road worthy this Spring. He said my buying mine recently has inspired him.
Thanks Bullittm3. Where's the car located? 94 cars now on the list. Still "searching" through the QV Registry and FChat. The search function and it's 20 sec time limit between searches is very frustrating, although beneficial. Anyone know this car or it's owner? He hasn't posted in some time. Wondering if he still has it. Need a chassis number and interior color (black maybe?) http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328/229617-first-post-many-new-308gtb-owner.html
Here are my thought - on a car done by Koenigsegg it works fine and I have no problem with it at all. If it is a cheapo body kit done by Jones body shop then it just comes off as cheap crap. We see those all too often on ebay or Craig's list ads. I would LOVE to see a thread with more info on your car and its history. PDG sent from Io, innermost moon of Jupiter
My friend Bob,the Alfa of Austin dealer told me that in June that GTC were going for $850k!.I do have a friend that has a 330GTC.1/5 of 850 is 175,just doing math is all.Gene,Im not suggesting anything. The market is very interesting and just adds to the fun.
Sorry, I didn't realize it wasn't on my profile. We are in the SF area so the car is still in CA. It might be difficult to get it back in CA if it was ever titled in another state.
David, not to doubt you expertise with your 5 years and 30,000 posts, you clearly have you finger on the pulse of the F-Chat community. There have been many recognized performance tuners such as AMG is the factory "tuner" for Mercedes, the Kremer Bros. have long been the factory race arm for Porsche, and Jack Roush Racing is the official racing arm for Ford's NASCAR series. Although, Michelotto is the race shop for the Ferrari factory GT and sports prototype racing efforts, Koenig was no slouch either when it came to tuning 308s with performance products including better cams, pistons, suspension, clutches, turbos, wider tires for better grip (thus the fender flares). This was not some shade tree mechanic operation. This company modified new cars including mine. This may not be comparing apples to apples but recently a 308 modified to look like a Michelotto (they did use Michelotto parts but still not a true Michelotto) recently sold for almost $145,000 in an RM auction. Who says a moded 308 cant bring more money? The yellow car is the RM auction car and the red one is a Koenig. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I agree. David's Koenig Euro QV is rare and unique. Who knows what the market will determine, if he ever decides to part with it? If it's got the documentation from Koenig, it very well could bring crazy money to the right buyer. With that said, let's focus on finishing the list. I appreciate all the inputs and only have to search through the GTS non-hyperlinked cars on Wade's Registry before posting what I have. My goal is to have as close to a definitive solution as possible. 94 chassis numbers so far with 50 solid confirmations of current owners/locations. I look forward to your comments/corrections soon. Happy New Year!
Sorry, I did mean to hi-jack the thread. Maybe one of the moderators could move this to a different or new thread.
No problem. I asked you to post a pic and you told me what would happen! One thing I've noticed in thread searching is how easily the conversation gets off topic. You have to sift through a lot of nonsense to find what you clicked on to read. I'm not a moderator but am hoping to avoid that in this thread. Thanks for the input. I think this is Ted Rutland's Euro 308. I saw it at Concorso this year and talked to Ted briefly. Nice guy. I didn't get the chassis number. Know nothing about it. Beautiful car! The color and the GA plates got my attention. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Attached is the list as of 1 Jan 2014. I welcome any corrections/comments. I realize we may never know exactly how many came over or how many are left, but 95 chassis numbers and over 50 confirmed here today, is a good start and close to that mystical 100 number we've all heard about. Thanks for all the inputs. Let's keep it going. Mark Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sorry if my comment came off as flippant or overly terse. There is indeed an honored history of Ferrari one offs. The Breadvan being the best example. The 308 specials may appreciate more rapidly than their sisters but without a competition history or celebrity ownership I'm skeptical. If the car makes you happy it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks anyway. Enjoy.
Thank you for putting that together mark. Very interesting there are not many Bianco ones. It got me wondering now how many Bianco/Bianco QV's there are on our tiny planet? . Thanks again Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
Thanks for putting this together. Small correction, the leather color of 50899 is crema (with red piping & carpet). It was imported new to Georgia from the Italian market, still has the dealer sticker on the rear window. I'm the 6th owner. Here's a couple older pictures from shortly after picking it up. Had those wheels when I purchased them... Previous owner replaced the 390mm. I think they are speedlines.
For the record, mine was Red/Nero from the factory. The interior was changed to tan by the previous owner. There is another Euro running around Dallas. Not sure of the VIN, but here's the thread. Next time I see Ckeat I will let him know about this thread... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328/372854-dream-closer-reality.html Great job on this list!
Hey Mark, I hope you don't mind but I took the liberty of putting your list into a spreadsheet format, which makes it easier to do things like a pivot table. Hope this is useful. Image Unavailable, Please Login
