Anybody know what the different between Canadian/US spec'd 550 and a LHD drive Euro spec 1998 550 are? Can get a Euro spec from a family friend very cheap but cannot import it into Canada if it is not build to either all applicable Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards or all applicable United States Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and bearing a statement of compliance label affixed by the original manufacturer, as required by the Regulations, may be eligible for importation into Canada provided the vehicle has not been altered and the certification from the original manufacturer is maintained, which may be subject to verification at the time of importation.

Rob- Lots of differences. You would have to have it converted to US/Canada spec professionally. Unless it is a lot cheaper, it would cost less to buy a correct spec or earlier imported and converted car. When the euro was really in the toilet, way worse than now, there were gray market imports and conversions made.
