Happy Friday everyone, Does anyone know how to tighten up side-view mirror on a euro spec 308? It's a carb car and uses the oval shaped mirrors with the Ferrari emblem on the front per the picture below. Mine is rather "limp" and needs to tightened to keep from flopping around. Any help is much appreciated! Image Unavailable, Please Login
An extra washer on the bolt along which the mirror pivots will help a little but the design isn't great. If you look at Historic race cars that often use these mirrors (such as Lola T70s), a crude brace may be sometimes be seen screwed into the side of the mirror casing - tieing it to the bodywork.
Here's what the racers do (I'm not suggesting that you do the same but it should give you some comfort that you are not alone). Also a great excuse to post a picture of one of best looking cars of all time. Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you decide to buy a new pair, shop around. The 'real' price is a lot less than the specialists would make you believe. http://stores.ebay.com/HardParts07/_i.html?_nkw=california+&_cqr=true&_dmd=1&_nkwusc=californian&_sid=376751279&_rdc=1
No not at all I apologize for any confusion. Perhaps more thorough searching is required by serious buyers, if they want the genuine article. But the point remains that the usual Ferrari outlets tend to put a premium on these mirrors which are available from lots of different sources. As an example, in the UK, I can see the real deal mirrors sold for £31.80 from a source I have used before, compared to £60 (49.95 + VAT) from one of the specialists. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/302167127244?lpid=122&chn=ps&adgroupid=39159866351&rlsatarget=aud-168805812066%3Apla-268911527498&adtype=pla&poi=&googleloc=1006518&device=c&campaignid=698622927&crdt=0
