Not sure if this has been discussed here at some point but I'm curious – I understand why the U.S. bumpers are different than the Euros but why didn’t the U.S. QVs incorporate the same grill (with prancing horse) and fog light configuration? Was there some safety benefit/regulation that might have necessitated a change for this as well?

The US bumper mounts were different than the Euro bumper mounts, so the Euro grille doesn't fit with the US bumpers - it had to be a different grille.

The under-bumper lights are actually just "flash-to-pass" driving lights, they only illuminate when the stalk is pulled back, and there's no (stock) way to have them lit up constantly as driving lights. I believe the US regulations of the time did not permit any other lighting, like fog lights or driving lights, that could be on if the main headlights weren't on at the same time. So, the Euro lights were not legal as-is in the US, and Ferrari probably just didn't want to mess with a different wiring configuration, so they saved a few $$ and left them off for the US spec cars (that part is just a guess!)

Interesting! Never realized that about the lights. Thanks for the info!

I've always wondered about the lack of prancing horse... maybe they felt it was unseemly to "hide" it under the gigantic bumper? On a side note the original Cibie flash to pass lights make nice driving lights when wired as such.
