The Dino has two fuel tanks and one fuel tank sending unit. Is it true that the USA version cars have their sending units on the Driver's side (right side) tank and that Euro cars have their fule sending unit on the Passenger's side (left side)?

I was going to submit a poll, but didn't see it as an option.

    Synchro,
US versions have sending unit in left tank, Euro (or at least RHD) versions have it in the right tank.

I'm confused with right and left and passenger and driver.

Of the four Dinos I have owned, 3 U.S. and 1 Euro, the fuel sending unit have all been on the right (facing forward) tank. This is the tank on the same side of the car as the oil/water heater exchanger.

I have never seen one with the sending unit on the side opposite that described above (the left side whilst facing forward, the side with the flywheel and bell housing).

My Dino is a 1972 European Production coupe, # 04092, and I believe that my fuel sending unit has always been on the left side( driver's side on LHD) tank. I thought they were all on the left! Guess I learned something new.

I just searched U.K. Maranello parts catalog on-line, and they show the Euro version sending unit on the right-hand tank (LHD car). When looking at the U.S. market diagram - it is silent to the location of the sending unit.

I just looked through all of my shop manuals and owner manuals. They all show level sensor in right tank. My Dino is 1972 #04504, US version and it has sensor in left tank, next to the filler. Right tank has a divot taken out of it's left side so that you can remove the alternator without removing the right tank. All from the factory. The divot is probably because of the huge aluminum assembly that holds the alternator, clutch and air pump in the US version. Alternator would be trapped with original right tank profile. Some mechanic probably said "relieve the tank." The resulting divot then fouled the level sensor so the sensor was moved to the left tank. Makes sense. US versions also had AC and a re-arranged oil heat exchanger. Probably was a mix during the production runs so "you never know."
Another joy of owning a Dino!

Just re-read original post in the thread and there is confusion. USA version has sending unit on Driver's side (left side) not (right side). USA cars are left hand drive and probably have left side sending units. At least those with smog and AC.

John - my two cars are U.S. versions with sending units in the right tank.
