European Delivery? Anyone done factory pickup from a USA purchase?

    I would like to do European Delivery on an F430 and pickup at the factory. Has anyone here done factory pickup (European Delivery) from a dealer here in the states? If so, which dealer?

    My local dealer informs me they have never done this in their history and will not in the future.

    Ferrari of Seattle told me they have done this before and would be willing to again, but they prefer not to because they may lose an allocation.
    I would like to find a dealer that is comfortable doing this. Porsche does this (for a fee), and BMW does this (for a discount). Does anyone have information on the Ferrari program, and which US dealers are friendly to doing this?

    I'm fairly sure there is no factory pick up currently for anyone apart from VIPs and some multiple owners collecting V12 cars only

    I read a story of someone picking up their CS at the factory. It was their first car. This obviously must have been in 2004. I can't find the thread now, but I remember reading that the factory workers were very pleased to see an American there, and queried him on why more don't do the same.

    I really think it depends on the willingness of your dealer to order it this way, not being a VIP.

    I'd be a bit surprised if you couldn't. All the big european brands have such programs.

    If your local Dealer is unwilling howcome another Dealer would give you allocation?

    They'll do it. I'm scheduled to pick up my 612 at the factory in July, through Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo. RTGT said they had never done it, but had no issues with it. FNA has already provided me with the paperwork for temporary registration, etc.

    They won't help with insurance, so you're on your own for that. They will ship it home if you return it to the factory.

    Do any of the Europeans on here have any comments on the factory delivery process, since so few Americans seem to have done it?

    I have been to the factory 3 times, and 2 of the times someone was picking up a car. The second time I visited, I saw Xzibit and some NBA star pickup 2 F430 some years ago, so it can be done.
