Has any one dealt with Eurospares for new parts?

They quote £295 for a full cambelt service kit for a 348 and it's apparently all Ferrari original parts. The cambelt (original Ferrari) costs about the same as the one on my Ford Sierra about 10 years ago!

One German Ferrari main dealer has just said that the parts alone for a major are €2000 (= £1400)! + maybe tensioner bearings (!!).

Another Dealer just quoted €4000 (£2750) JUST for a cambelt change and NOTHING ELSE. He said he knew this price so exactly, 'cos they're just doing exactly that on another vehicle where the owner strictly gave those instructions! A 'proper' major (30000miles/50tkm) would be €6000 + VAT + anything unexpected.

Looking at Verdi's prices too, it seems like I could air freight the car to UK for a service .... or is there some scam waiting for innocents like myself?

Seems very unlikely that the parts alone for a cambelt service are £1400- that is what a Maranello Sales (UK main dealer) charges for doing the cambelt service for a 355. You may well need tensioners too, which are extra.

I've heard good things about Eurospares. I would however want to make absolutely sure that they were the original Ferrari parts- the consequences of an inferior patterned cambelt part failing on your car are not worth thinking about...

Why not drive your car to Verdis, have its cambelts done, and have a little holiday in the UK!

not aware fo any scams, most of the specialists over here charge the same as Verdi's

I've used Eurospares and they seem very good but I would also give QV London a call if you are going to buy the parts +44 1344 622011 they seem to be able to do the Tensioner Bearings very competitively as well

I've bought a few items, some OEM, that were fine, but the pattern parts were poor quality & I didn't use them on the car.

The telephone service was very arrogant, I personally would not use them again.

Thanks for all the quick feedback chaps! I'll give Maranello and QV a bell this week. In the meantime I've found a maindealer in Germany with a low hourly rate 'cos he's in the backwoods. However, he still quotes €700 (£466) parts price for the tensioners if they're due. (He said EACH, but I think that was a mistake on the 'phone).

I think I'll try and pick up some lower price tensioners (OEM) and ask him to fit them when the engine's out.

It seems for the first time in 15 years that I've found something which is cheaper in UK than in Germany!! LOL!

348 belts (and all others) are just proprietary parts, off the shelf, and certainly not made specially for (or by) Ferrari. Buy them from Ferrari and the usual mark-up applies, buy them from Continental and you get a reasonable price. The product is the same.

I haven't used Eurospares, so can't comment on them directly. However, I've used a few different people for spares, but from now on always check the Ferrari UK spares website because sometimes they are cheaper than or the same price as the specialists and you know you are getting the proper parts. I don't always buy from them, but I do check their prices.

I have used eurospares, and found them helpful and competative.
They even took back an item that was the wrong spec, and changed it for the right one.

They have supplied new items when they had nil stock.

Very helpful, i have had no r4eason to complain.

I can't seem to find the Ferrari UK Spares website. Can anyone post the URL or a telephone number? I just keep getting hits on Ferrari UK. Is Ferrari UK Spares a different set-up?

    Thanks

Happy new year to you too, Jeff!

I registered with owners.ferrari.com to use the site about 10 days ago and am still waiting for a PIN. I sent an eMail to ask what had happened a few days ago and I'm waiting for a reply on that as well.

I looked at Ferrari parts uk and clicked on 348 to get the answer 'no results found'.

    I rest my case, mylud!

I bought the 348 service kit from Eurospares in March last year. I insisted I wanted pukka parts that would be as per OEM fit.

The kit that was sent very quickly.

Oil filter - as OEM (also has Ferrari logo)
Fuel filters - correct Bosch as OEM (although the first package only had one in it, I had to chase a second up!)
    Timing belt - as OEM
    Aircon belt - as OEM
Alternator belt - beware! if you have a Remy Delco (GM 105) alternator you need a different part number to the more common Nippondenso version you could be sent (wouldn't fit), or even another type (very tight but could go on if you forced it, also wrong tooth form). I also got sent a 355 belt by mistake. Having said this Eurospares were very helpful and had no issue with sending replacement items, all of which arrived next day post!
Air filter - as OEM supply
Tensioners - a pair are included and are the most expensive part of the kit, hence the kits price. Not convinced the supplied tensioners are the latest 'improved' standard and I'm not sure how one can determine one way or the other.
The only items I ended up being short of that I requested specifically were washers for the fuel filter unions and also washers for the oil drain plugs (sump and tank)

Eurospares can supply the correct OEM plugs too, although I opted for superior NGK versions, but in any case these are not part of the Eurospares packaged service kit.

Regarding Ferrari UK spares, they would appear to provide a superb service to those on this site who have dealt with them , but unfortunately they ain't into 348 stuff yet (and the time this is taking is seriously annoying as the model is now 10 yrs out of production!)

I have heard that Ferrari can take upto about 3 weeks to respond to new registrants to the site. Plus, there are no 348 parts for sale on the Classic Parts website.

We do have 348 parts here and can get them so let me know what you need.

    QAEV..Sorry we didn't answer your enquiry...what was it ?

    Thanks.

Thanks. I was enquiring whether Ferrariparts.co.uk were going to do 348 spares but you seem to have answered it with this message. Any idea if/when this might happen?

    Thanks

Well, logically the next load of parts to be released to us would be 348, Testarossa, F40 etc, and historically these are released when a model platform has been out of production for 10 years. I know discussions are under way but have no real 'news' for you yet.

But again - this makes no difference to how we operate today. If you want us to get you a 348 bit we will ! It may be instock but if not we'll get it from the Factory !

    Hope this helps.
