    Cannot confirm this officially, but a colleague at Maranello says the internal name for the car is “Passione”

    Could just be a dev/project name, but it feels right.

    A turbocharged civic can do that. That doesn't make it exciting and full of passion.

    Edit: Actually that would make it more exciting because it doesn't have to fake shifting or have fake engine sounds.

    It's like saying a bean burger is just as good as a beef burger. You can imitate it all you want, but it's never going to replace the real thing.

    The name feels related to Purosangue, in that it’s kind of an assurance name. “This is a real Ferrari, we promise.” I’m sure it’ll be quite a machine.

    Though I am perplexed about them bringing in outside designers to work on it.

    I do like that Vigna is referring to it as having an “engine”, rather than motor. I know they’re one and the same, but the former just sounds sexy.

    It wouldn’t be imitating, necessarily. It would be a functioning shifting process. Just electrically. And we don’t even know the evolutionary potential of this technology. It could fuse with the mechanical in new and exciting ways.

    They are not the same, just a common layman error that an automotive company should know not to get wrong.

    Very similar to layman calling an oil cooled Porsche air cooled…..drives smart people nuts but what can you do?

    Engine typically implies gas powered, however motor is often interchanged between gas and electric.

    Edit: You know what? Nevermind. This conversation is about to go down a rabbithole about that and turn into a debate I really couldn't care about.

    Just check the latin roots of the word, as there was no gas back then, but they did make war engines!

    Calling a duracell powered automobile "passion" is like saying "this fake beef tastes just like real beef" its a stupid proposition. But whatever makes them sell more of those environmental crimes...
