Evel Knivel Ferrari?

It was a silver or light blue Daytona Spider and he did mention "Ferraris" plural.

 

Evil lived in Butte Montana most of his life. Thats about 60 miles away from me. I'm pretty sure there was only one Ferrari when he lived in Montana. I don't remember what car it was as I was about 14 when I saw it at his place.

 

If my memory serves me correctly he had a highly publicized arrest for running 100+ mph on a freeway in a Ferrari.

Hey glassman, where are you from in Montana? I was born in Anaconda and spent a lot of my younger years there and in Butte. As a matter of fact, Evel Knieval and my father were friends and I used to sit on his lap as a little boy when he and my dad would drink at this little bar there in town. My uncle went to scouts a few times with Bobby Knieval. Kinda cool. My mom has photos somewhere. Mayabe I can call her up and ask her to try and find them, scan and email to me. MY Dad and his best friend Jim Street used to go motorcycle riding with him sometimes and many time would go on trail rides up in the mountains near where the Lady of the Rocklies is now located......

I had the ex-Evel Knievel Daytona Spider #14737. I got it from Arnold Meier in Zurich, Switzerland on 17 January 2002. At the Bonhams Gstaad sale on 20 December 2002 it didn't sell. On 16 June 2003 I sold it to Brian Brunkhorst in Milwaukee/WI/USA. He has since repainted the car from red to metallic silvergrey, interior remained beige. 22 January 2004 Brian showed it during the Palm Beach Cavallino Classic. Below are photos showing the car when I had it in 2002 and then after the restoration in January 2004 at Moroso. The original color of #14737 was Argento 106-E-1 with black interior. It was sold new thru Chinetti to first owner Jim Christians, owner of Peachtree Travel Management in Atlanta/GA. In 1972 it went from Christians thru Don Fong in Atlanta to Robert Craig "Evel" Knievel. In April 1973 it went from Knievel via Fong to Mike Dodds. It later went to Tom Davis, Walt McCune and Sidney Ferris. Arnold Meier bought it at the Christie's Monaco auction on 11 May 1988. #14737 is a November 1971 production car.

Daytona 15449 was also owned by him. It was crashed by one of his girlfriends and later made into a Spyder. Its now in the New England area i believe.

You obviously don't know anything about Butte Montana. This place is known as Butte America to the locals. This is a mining town where back in the day, pretty much anything goes. Major Mafia influence, and supposedly the largest red light district in the west.
So some kids in the bar, no big deal.
