Interesting. I have read about events where Minardi brought their two seaters and the Arrows three seaters along, but they might have sold them in the mean time or they belonged to somebody else before.

Regardless for the life of me I would never get into one of these: I'd be scared beyond belief. I rather pilot myself.

The cars are rented out irregularly... I was trying to acquire one of the 3seaters, but when informed who was bidding for both, I let the subject rest. Both (as far as I know there were only two) 3seaters were sold for the relatively low sum of 120.000 USD :) to a person closely related with the Ascari circuit and he still owns them. But its also possible to rent the Minardi two seaters for your own track day...

GREAT for you! In Gilles car of 1980, fantastic!

You didn't drive it, did you? Please don't tell me you drove it or I'll have a heart attack...

PS: Funny how this car is deliberately numbered #2. Scheckter despite being a champion has still less of a ring to his name than Gilles. On the contrary I have never seen a Ferrari from the Schumacher/Irvine/Rubens era that wasn't labelled Schumacher...

I'm working on getting the 3 seater Minardi to the French Quarter Classic in November, with a Former F1 driver at the wheel.

    Stay tuned.

What always strikes me is how much smaller the cars appear in person now than in the photos from when I was growing up.

I know that Andreas has been to the AGS program in Le Luc, but has anyone attended the RaceInc International F1 school in Canada? Their web site indicates that they've got a number of Bennetons, Arrows and Lola cars, which would be seriously cool to drive, although at $8K/day (culminating in the 10-lap F1 run) it doesn't sound cheap.

Ira, I've been looking at their programme. The collection of cars is better, but the price is like 3 times what it costs in Le Luc. For that money you can easily throw in a European vacation for two.

Also the Le Luc school now offers newer cars (I believe ex Arrows), which they painted in Mc Laren and Ferrari colors. They do have the paddle shifts etc.

Thanks, Andreas; I didn't realize that AGS was so reasonably-priced (well, relatively speaking). With the disparity in cost, you're right- why not combine the program in Le Luc with another trip and still come out ahead?

I did not drive it nor did I drive this one. Sitting in it was mind staggering enough. I was speechless for the rest of the day.

I bet you were. They're so cool. I think I've seen both of these cars actually running at the first USGP as part of the historic "race". They're so gorgeous. And to think WHO drove them...
