Ever Drive a Cop Car?

Many years ago. Mustang Coupe cop car. Had a friend that was a Texas State Trooper. While it had little done to it: oil cooler and it was an automatic, it still pulled just fine.

 

I picked one up at the Mount Prospect City Police auction last spring. It's an old Mount Prospect Police Car. They were practically givin' them away. It's got a cop motor of four hundred and forty cubic inch plant, it's got cop tyres, cop suspension, cop shocks, it was a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.

I need to fix the cigarette lighter.

 

I drive one every day--Does that count?? Just got my new one yesterday. 04 Crown Vic, 101 miles on it.

 

I've sat in the back of a few.. does that count?

Almost bought an '86 ( I think) Mustang police special when I was 18. Coupe body, manual, vinyl back seat, faster than heck at the time.

Years later, I almost bought a Caprice 9C1. Those things were built like tanks.

 

i want one, so I can pull people over and then act like a cop even though im not.

 

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?

When I used to work for Ford, we would get a vehicle to drive. Mine was always a Crown Vic Police Interceptor....351 Cleveland, upgraded susp, cooling, brakes, you name it. At that time I was a Medic in NJ, so that car with the few Ant on the trunk, the spot light on the A-post, and the strob's on the dash...no one bothered me.

One cool story...My brother and I were comming home from a wedding and were lost, looking for the GSP. Pulled up accross the street from a local durring a traffic stop. Waited till he was done, and asked directions. He told us to follow him as he ripped down side streets with us right behind. He stopped just before the entrance and gave us a salute.

Boy I mis those cars....

 

Oh, yeah? I literally work across the street from the Cook County Assessor's Office.

Edit: hwyengr's office Okay, look for the 1/4 of a circle building. Due south of that is city hall/county building (the county half is the one without the Mayor's private garden on the roof), and my office is due south of that, on the east half of the block. Other sites include the Picasso, which is due east of the county building.

 

i think what dave is saying is, it has alot of pickup that you can really feel while being handcuffed, beaten and verbally abused while in the back seat.

I bought a used on at auction once. Drove it to Minneapolis where it was an EXACT MATCH for some of their unmarked cars. Never got stopped, but some some cops sure craned their neck looking at me.

 

my dad taught me to drive in a cruiser in the port of la out on terminal island. i probably logged more hours than he did lol

 

My best friend had a '76 Malibu that was a old cop car. That car was fast as hell at least until he was T-boned at an intersection. He was fine, the car was not. Loved that car and it wasnt even mine.
