Does anyone here ever get the feeling that they are a slave to time rather than it being the other way around...? I've been feeling this way for a few days now and its really getting to me...

Its like my life is dictated by external factors rather than me being in control... and I really feel like i'm "stuck"...

And only you will ever be able to overcome that. You have more power to dictate what you do with your time than you give yourself credit for. Some people spend the rest of their lives trying to overcome this state of mind.

Yeah I had this problem but I put a plan together to fix it. Plan has been executed and I am now retired . I stopped wearing a watch and now do whatever I want. Good luck

thanks, guys... yeah... did a bit of soul searching today... i think i need to get a little bit more organized to begin with... the difference today vs 2 weeks ago is that i was a LOT organized... and these days... work is such that i'm having a slightly challenging time coping... my fault entirely for not sticking to my work ethic and trying to do way too much... organized and prioritizing. Antony you are so right... i took a step back today... and tried to look at things from a different perspective... that really helped! and thanks to Steve... I'm thinking more seriously about where i need/want to be in say 10 years... and formulating a plan to get there... :)

I'm feeling a LOT better...! Thanks guys! :)

Time is truly the most scarce things in our lives. One thing that I have always heard in my particular field is that we can buy all of the (insert item) we want, but we cannot buy time.

As I get older I find that I constantly think about the opportunity cost of time no matter what I am doing at that moment, particularly if I am doing something unproductive. I end up watching a lot less TV and goofing off, because there is better things to do with my time. Whether it is reading to my child, organizing a closet, or working on a business plan, there always seems to be something better to do than sit in front of the TV and do nothing. I find that even when I am watching my mind is still on other things.

To me it is all about efficiency. How to get the drudgery done quickly so that I have more time for other things. When I go to the grocery store for example, I look at the list and mentally plan out the route to get everything as quickly as possible. Running erands is the same thing only stopping at different places than grocery aisles.

Some people, my wife for example, never think twice about how to manage their time. Maybe I think enough for both of us...

I was going to write a summery of my day but it was to lengthy. Basically I get up 4:30 AM and get to bed at around 10 or 11 PM. Its been that way for most of my life and I do not think I will change. I am usually saying "If I'm not working I'm sleeping"

My suggestion to you, is every so often, be a kid! Just act out on some of those things you want to do, not the stuff you have to do. Take a break, go to Vegas, Buy a cool shifter knob, have sex in a crazy place. Do some stuff different!

I know how you feel, I feel sometimes I will never ever complete all my tasks that I have laid out for myself on any particular day, but you know.................................... some stuff can wait until tomorrow. I am not a procrastinator by no means, but sometimes you have to just take care of what is screaming the loudest. Besides if you got everything done in one day, there would be nothing for you to do tomorrow!

But I am sure we will find some stuff! lol!
