Well, I couldn't stand it. I snuck out of the studio (easy to do when you are self-employed) and took a spin in the Ferrari for about an hour. The weather was just too good to pass up. Great ride. Anybody else ever play hooky?

Ahhhh...the dreaded Ferris Bueller thread...I used to play hooky all the time when I was selling cars. The senior sales guys would sneak away on the nice days in either dealership inventory or on our motorcycles for the rest of the afternoon...Fridays seemed to be the day of choice.

I must confess that this has only happened to me when I’ve been on a sports bike and not in a car. Cars always make me feel more responsible, though given what I’ve done in some of them, Lord knows why. Here is the tug that pulls me into the Hooky fest.

It’s on way to work. The summer air is like silk as it ripples past, the day is beautiful with a crisp newness and you feel ALIVE! Work is only some five miles away and fast approaching as you’re riding in through a hole in the traffic. The balance of the machine is fantastic, it feels both nimble and solid at the same time, and best of all it’s FAST, as in nose bleed fast.

As you cross the bridge and catch a glimpse of distant mountains a question arises:
Were I, you think, were I to drop dead right now would I still have to go into the office and go through the stuff on my desk?

If the answer is ‘No’ (and it always has been), then I just head off, through the city and into the mountains, up and away to a ski resort that contains a cubby hole of a restaurant with the finest chili you could ask for. It is a knee-down blast of a trip, both there and back, and you arrive home feeling as though you have actually done something and not just spent another day grayly passing through an unmarked life.

    Wouldn’t you go?

yea I know exactly what you mean, I tore the road up, sunny day, clear highway... some guy in an e46 M3 started to mess around so I let him have it, then he beat me by 6 car lengths or more, I don't know what happened, but my driving a 4 banger Accord may have had something to do with it...surely it was not anything to do with my driving ability.
