I got to know Joe Hughes and his wing rider, John Kazian and then the late Gordy McCollum when we were doing air shows at Abottsford. Gordy was killed at Reno in the 70's when Joe was caught in a powerful down draft while they were inverted during a low pass. Great people. Later on I met a real old wing WALKER, Jesse Woods, who actually did wing walking in the '30's without the benefit of belts, straps, ropes , or anything else but her hands. She climbed all over the airplane and rode the leading edge of the upper wing by simply hooking her legs over it and was free to wave at the crowd as she was flown by. Travel Air's, Wacos, and Jenny's were her mounts or as she said, " Anything that had two wings".
