My wife and I were travelling through Scotland a few years back. We were on our 3rd week of the vacation when my wife mentioned to me that she missed our dog (a black lab). Later that day we were getting a private tour of Bamboragh Castle by a local Castle worker. We were walking into the castle when I saw in the distance a shepard and his black lab. I didn't mention anything to my wife at the time but made a mental not of it to head back over to the shepard on the way out so my wife could visit the dog. We finished up our tour and then headed over to the shepard who had a small apartment that was built into the Castle wall...........I asked him if my wife could see his dog, he said sure and opened up the lower half of his door..........out came running a spotted dalmation!! I turned to him and said we really wanted to see the lab..............he said Oh!!, thats Pippen .......................she died 4 years ago!!
Or so you think. You're actually 20 minutes younger than you think because you were abducted by aliens one night, whisked away at the speed of light to a secret base where "experiments" were performed on you, then you were brought back and left where they found you. Utilizing Einstein's theory of relativity, because you were briefly transported at the speed of light by the aliens, you aged at a slightly slower rate relative to the earth while you were abducted. Therefore, you are slightly younger than everybody else. Didn't you check your watch that night?
The store brand milk at a local market adopted a label pronouncing, "Now 98% natural ingredients". I pointed that out to the checkout clerk and asked, "Only 2% ectoplasm, eh?" She didn't get it.
i am the last person to believe in ghosts but something very starnge that i have yet to explain happened to me in college. i went to texas a&m and moved into an apartment the beggining of my junior year. my roommate was very superstitious. i moved in about 3 weeks before he did. our apartment was right next to the railroad tracks. for the first couple weeks, i kept waking up hearing a woman's voice. once awake, the voice was gone. i am a very solid sleeper, and this would not normally wake me up. when my roommate moved in at the begining of the fall semester, i told him about it and we had a good laugh. nothing happened for a couple of months. he worked at chili's restuaruant and most of his coworkers were in the same business program as him, so they worked and studied together. during one of the study sessions, a gril went to use the restroom which was across from my bedroom, and came back and told the study group about a girl moaning VERY loudly in my room. of course, this peaked all their attention and they quickly gathered near my door (their were about 8-9 people present). my roommate, being the considerat individual he was decided to open my door and surprise me. at the moment they opened the door, the sound went silent and they saw me sound asleep. of course i woke up pretty upset as i had no idea what was going on. about a week later, i was watching tv when someone knocked on my door. it was the neighbor across the hall. i invited him in and he sat down on the couch which was opposite the entertainment center. after about 30 seconds, i noticed the tv wasn't showing a picture. it was a sony tv, and it had flipped to video 3 from video 1. the only way this was possible was by pushing the video button on the tv OR the remote twice. the remote was in the kitchen and noone touched the tv. of course, i thought this was strange and went to the kitchen to get then remote. while flipping the remote back to video 1, the front door opened to it's full potential. this was strange mainly because the weatherstripping on the bottom of the door was bent and caught the carpet after the door opened about 30%. to open the door the rest of the way took a bit of effort that no wind could have accomplished. needless to say, i was puzzled. while looking at the door trying to figure out how "the wind" could have blown the door open like that ( it wasn't a windy day), the kitchen sink began to run at full force. now, no-one had been in the kitchen and the knob was turned fully on. i am home building and i have yet to rationalize this. yes the door could have been from wind and the tv could have been from a neighbor with a similar system, but nothing explained the kitchen faucet. i promptly went to the apartment office and asked if anything strange had happened in my apartment, such as someone dying. they looked at me like i was nuts. alll was quite for about another week. my roommate and his co-workers decided upon hearing this that they would have a ghost party to celebrate the "ghost that lived in our apartment", with quigi board in tow. it was oct 30, and much to my surprise, they showed up after work (about 1 in the morning) to have their party. i was asleep and had an exam the next day. i wasn't to pleased that they woke me up to "help" celebrate. i went back to my bedroom after yelling at him. they were all excited about the fact that they were all going to the nine-inch-nails concert the following night (halloween) in houston - about 70 miles away. unfortunately, my roommate couldn't get anyone to cover his shift and had to give his ticket to the concert away. he was VERY pissed, as all of his friends were gone, no one would cover for him. the next morning, late in the morning, he received a phone call from a friend asking if he had heard. he hadn't. as the concert goers were heading back to college station, they entered the freeway ramp and hit a drunk driver head on that was leaving the freeway after having been driving on the wrong side of the freeway. 6 people were killed in the car, one was so badly injured she spent the next year in the hospital. the drunk driver was also killed. keep in mind, all these people were at our apartment the night before. after the deaths, which were a huge news story in college station and houston, my roommate was very distraught. being superstitious, he felt there must have been a reason he wasn't there. i saw a complete turn around in him, he suddenly quit partying and settled down. his grades were now a priority as well as getting serious in his personal life. all was quite from there on out.....until..... about two years later, when i was finishing all of my studies, the george bush (41) library was begining construction. as they cleared the trees an area around the roadway leading to the library, they found something unexpected. a paupers cemetary from the late 1800's. the cemetary housed workers that had worked at the university in it's infant years that had no money or families for a proper burial. everything from ex-slaves to dirt poor farmers that had nothing. this cemetary was in the thicket that had been less than 10 feet from my bedroom window. to this day, i wonder if it was all coincidence or some thing more. i am an engineering type and"everything" has an explanation. i have yet to explain this. my roommate is the same way and even attributes it to problems that have plagued him since. he was on the up and coming list at the company he worked. having climbed to a VERY presitigious position at a company in a short time based on his abilities. the company was enron. he wasn't aware of what was going on and had to testify befor ethe sec and other government agencies. the lawyers alone cost him far more than he ever made. although i never saw a ghost, i thought i would add to the thread.
Well you guys might find this website of interest. www.theshadowlands.net it's a website for a listing of all known hauntings. I live next to Salem, MA where the famous witch trials took place and there are TONS of freaky stuff in my area.
I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in as well... I've been taking time off since returning from overseas. I've always been interested in the supernatural and unexplained since I can remember. Anyways, I was sitting around watching the Travel Channel this summer and an episode of Haunted Places came on and told about Mansfield, OH Prison. Well this girl told me that there was a group in Indiana that investigated this stuff and I should look into it seeing as I have plenty of free time. Well I joined this group (Indiana Ghost Trackers - http://www.indianaghosts.org ) around September and have learned some fairly interesting things. A few people from our group even had a small cameo in the SciFi TV series Proof Positive as they attempted to provide evidence to the Willard Library haunting in Evansville, In. Anyhow, I'm very skeptical about ghosts as I've never encountered any personally. Just because I'm part of this group does not mean that I absolutely 100% believe they exist for certain but I'd like to see some evidence and provide my own conclusion. I would have thought that being in places like Kosovo where mass genocide and such have taken place that I would have seen something already, not to mention practically living in Saddam's palace for six months...hmmm. That being said, I have come across a couple experiences in the good old US of A so far that did not have any seemingly apparent causes: 1) I setup an investigation of my Great Aunt's house in Ohio. She no longer lives in the home, so it has been vacant for 6 years or more. We had about 10 people investigate the house and property. It's an old farm house built around 1882 with a large old barn and an old school house on the property and directly across the street from a cemetary. Anyway, my Aunt told me stories when I was a kid about seeing a young girl walking thru her kitchen and out thru the wall. Also, my Dad had mentioned weird things about the place as well as other relatives having seen "something". Well to make this story short, we did not "see" anything all night long, but a closet door opened by itself twice in front of 3 people. And the following EVP (electronic voice phenomena) came from this exact same closet: www.jessehoffman.net/evp.htm Now the voice seems to say "I'm bad" or something like that. Again, I'm not saying that there is anything spectacular about that closet or even the house itself, but it is interesting to note that the EVP and the door opening was from the same closet. 2) The only other item I have seen (did not witness this myself) is a picture taken by a lady from our group who did a private investigation at a business in Indiana. She said she took two pictures in succession (the second pic as soon as the flash recharged), the first you see nothing, the second you see...well you tell me cause I can't explain it. Anyway, take from this what you will...it makes for an interesting hobby if nothing else. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The thing I find most interesting and a bit creepy is that if you look at it's shirt from a distance you can see a word spelled out...to me it looks like "SIN" with a backward S....optical illusion...maybe...or is it? (I included the same pic with the area highlighted that I'm talking about, look at the original to see if you see this as well) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Where the hell did this come from ???, the doner post is even wierder, wonder if their was a reason it was chosen or just random? What does it say on the door? Bless ??ica ????
I never saw a ghost but one inhabited an old house that used to be my office. One nite when I was working late upstairs I hear someone walking up the steps. I said hello but no one answered me. When I got up I didn't see anyone and then all of a sudden the room temperature dropped like 20 degrees and I thought what the **** is this. I got up and leaft. As I told others about this incident they also had a story of sounds and footsteps like I did. The house is one of the oldest in town and used to be a place with hundreds of acres. I always wondered if it was a ghost of a slave that used to be on the plantation. There were old wooden slave huts behind this house. It also sat 1000 feet or so from the road out front.
http://www.marylandghosts.com/locations/washington.php I live in a "hotbed" of ghostly activity as I'm only a few minutes from the Antietam Battlefield where I bike a lot during nicer weather, the Washington Monument (the "real" one ), the old South Mountain Inn (worked there for a while in high school...definitely has a certain "feel" to it), South Mountain Battlefield, Burkittsville (home of the Blair Witch ...oh and Gathland State Park and the National War Correspondents Memorial), Shepherdstown, WV, the C&O Canal (used extensively during the Civil War) and Harpers Ferry, WV. So as you can imagine there are a lot of very old homes in the area that are pre-Civil War. One of which was a friend of mine during middle school which was a big farmhouse and supposedly used during the Civil War to house injured soldiers. I can't personally recall any specific events that stand out in my mind, but the whole house definitely had this strange feel about it no doubt. He used to tell me stories about things he'd see and hear and his dog (a big ol' German Shepard) would act very strange while in the house as if he were following someone around, but nothing would be there.
