I got screwed by these guys www.euromotorsport.net - Please go to my website www.euromotorsportsucks.com I know you will all back me up on this!! Thanks everyone!!!
Sounds like you got scammed. A PPI would have prevented this. You should know better, but this is not an excuse for unscrupulous used exotic dealers. At the end of the day, however, they are just used car salesman.
Nobody is going to sign a paper saying "nothing is wrong" with a used exotic. But if they do sign a paper saying "no paintwork, and to our knowledge everything works" you have them. The suspension light should be noticed. Still, sending $150k for a Lamborghini from a FL dealer sight unseen?? Are you NUTS????? A flight down there is well worth it; you'd have seen the paintwork and light and walked. Ken
A PPI is essential before buying a car that is expected to be what the seller represents. Even before investing in a PPI, there are many people here (myself included) who would be willing to go and look at cars to help filter out the junk. That's one of the great things about this site. There are people virtually everywhere throughout the country that can go eyeball a car before investing in a PPI.
Ken is 100% right on this. If you can afford to plunk down $200K for a car, you can afford an airline ticket to go look at it. Or at least to send someone you trust to go check it out for you. A PPI would have worked here as well. If they'd balked at taking it over to the Lambo dealer for a PPI, that would have tipped you off that there were problems lurking. Hopefully, you'll go after these creeps. Most states have consumer protection laws, especially as relates to used car dealers, and they usually allow treble damages and attorneys fees. So you might be able to get a good lawyer down there to go after them on all or partial contingency. Let us know what you end up doing.
Being a dealer in Miami I resent some of the comments pointed towards all dealers in Florida.Every dealer in the country winds up with a bagel or two every year. The good guys send them on to auction, the azzholes lie and sell to out of state buyers. This is not a Florida specific problem. It can happen anywhere. Yes this guy wound up buying from a known scumbag. That part is certain. Much of the fault for the current situation lies in the lap of the buyer. You're a dealer so you bought the car on a wholesale basis. You should know how that goes, inspect, inspect, then pay someone else to inspect. By the way I love reading those lawyer letters. He was probably like lets ask them for $35k, that'll scare em Haaaa? 1.Why would you go for $195k when you agreed on $190? You were marked as a sucker that very second. 2. Why not invest in a PPI before you send $150k? a typical deposit here is 10% balance due when you have inspected the car. Why would you have accepted the car missing the items and having paintwork. Are there no more suitable Lambos in the country? The state of Florida had a cooling off period for buyers of guns and Lambos. You had ample time to demand a refund. 3. You were doomed from the start when you went to Prestiege Motors. They are only somewhat more reputable then your selling dealer. Maybe you should have done some research on them as well. In the end you are where you are. The uglyness is behind you, the money is spent. Either sell the car and start over or slap some Tubis on her and enjoy the car . Best of luck and if there is ever another Florida car you wish to buy, I will be happy to do a PPI in my shop.
Sorry to hear of this. I too hear a lot about FLA and shady deals. Before this happens to someone else make sure that absolutely everything is verified when purchasing a car from the Sunshine State. Good luck with it.
Well said - I made the same mistake and can only blame myself. what did the man say...one born every minute. Not doing a full ppi on any purchase is plain dumb and as per the advice, convert it to a track car and enjoy it.
I know I messed up by not doing the PPI- I just dont want anyone else from the baord to get screwed like me - this board is always helpful to me and I want to give something back - if I can save someone else I will try!
Dealer: Car Dealer Drug Dealer Wheeler Dealer Is there a positive connotation to the word "dealer?" Sorry to hear about your problem. Its hard for me to imagine sending someone 150 large without touching and seeing the item I bought. That doesn't include giving money to a stranger. I hope all goes well with the car and you get some restitution.
That's a lot of money involved. An unfortunate situation. Good luck with it. Euro Motors advertises heavily on eBay - I think they've got a bunch of Lambo's on right now. They've always seemed a little shady. Guess I'll continue to stay away. Ditto for Prestige. Have heard lots and lots of complaints. Sad state of affairs really.
you seem to have a nack for attracting and dealing with questionable dealers, you listed on your site you purchased from eurospec exotic. Do a search on this board and you will find some interesting things.
I know he had some problem with smuggling lotus in the country - doesnt sound like a big deal to me and I weighed that out when I bought cars from him - he is a nice guy and has never screwed me - so I cant complain
