Bump. What ever happened to this? I see the website is off line now. Did you mount one to a 348? Do the 348 and 355 have the same mounting brackets on the A pillar? I know the Targa Roof has a different mount from 348 to 355. On a recent thread a new member was asking about buying a hard top and all the replies were referring to a Targa roof. The person asking didn't mention if they had a G/TS or an SP so I came looking for this thread to see whatever happened to it. The problem the guys had with the price I'm guessing is that we're mostly owners closer to the budget end of Ferrari ownership. The $10-17k is a fair price but its also large percentage of the value of these models. The quality looks great. If they were produced when the cars were new they would have been $5-7k and new car buyers would have jumped on them. These economic times with costs and overheads make it hard to produce good products and make them worth producing. The demand would probably be quite reasonable in the the $3500 to $4995 area. That said how many guys have a working roof on a 355 spider and how much have people spent on a roof that needed repairing? If this saves you the cost or even the hassle of a roof repair would it be worth it at $10k or say $7995?
The guys got busy so they kind of let go for a while and put the site offline. The price is now at 6000$ plus shipping (which can be expensive) I am getting the roof from them and will have it painted to match my rosso scuderia on the 355. Right now, we're working out a few kinks but it looks promising. I love the look of the Berlinetta but having the spider is so great...with this roof, all problems are solved and you have 2 Ferraris in 1. Once I get more advanced in the process, I will make a thread complete with pictures and my review of the product and service I received. Probably won't be posting anything until next spring so be patient everyone....
Just wondering as to an update.... 1. Does it fit a 348 spider ? 2. Any detailed pics of it fitted with glass etc.....
I was just thinking a hard top would be a nice option, I would consider buying one. Let me know how it goes. I am looking for a thread to possibly turn my F355 Spider into a manual operated and remove the ...... Issue. Someone mentioned they did it and in 5 seconds it is up or down, seeking that thread.
Well, I pretty much own one of the 2 units ever built (as far as I know) and I am using it. I had to make some tweaks, had issues with the company but that's all documented and behind us at this point. Mine was the 2nd prototype. The first was used successfully on fman's car and I'm not sure if he still has the car or sold it at this point. I doubt the product has a future given the current age/value of the 348/355 market and I'm pretty certain the company is over and done with at this point. It took some money and some work (especially with the lexan windows) but I'm happy with the product now and it's great to own both a Berlinetta and a spider! I even got a Berlinetta rear emblem and switch the emblems (with a magnetic hold) whenever I put the roof on so my car doesn't say "spider" while a hardtop is on it. The only way I could think of to protect the paint, is to install some 'clear bra' plastic material on the anticipated rub area. One should be able to cut it so it does not stick out too far ... I think 3M makes a good quality version of this stuff ...
